Hi all I need to keep my Cisco as my edge device for compliance reasons so the HG659 will need to sit south of the C897.

Internet connectivity for the HG659 is via a LAN port on the Cisco to the WAN port on the HG659 configured for an Ethernet routed IP connection with a static IP configured in the Cisco's LAN. This is tested and working fine.

Will I need to change the Voip provider details in the Telephony section in the HG659 now that I am behind double NAT, for example configuring the outbound server?

Do we think I will need to create NAT bypass rules for ports 5060 and 6050 on the Cisco?

Has anyone had success with this?

Many thanks in advance

Hmm, no one know the answer to this? Wondering if there is anyone in the Drury area running voip on their HG659 that would be OK with me popping around to check if we can get a phone working behind two routers?

Patience is your friend... I'd be interested to learn the answer to this query also.

No experience with the Cisco device you're using, but there are some general instructions for setting up the HG659 behind a third party router here:

I didn't need to change the VOIP settings on the HG659, or NAT settings on my router, for this to work.

You're don't have a double NAT situation so there shouldn't be any issues - the VoIP stack binds itself to the WAN interface of the HG659b not the LAN interface.

Thanks all,

I tried this successfully at a friends place who also uses the Vf Voip service, interestingly the SIP auth is tied to the serial number of the HG659 so I had to put my test HG659 in front of my friends. No forwarding of 6050 or 5060 needed on the edge router, it just worked. I think may well need to do that on my Cisco though. Run all the cables, will update when done.

Froob, interestingly that is almost exactly what I did to the letter! :)

So voip from the HG659 behind a Cisco router firewall worked without a hitch. Forwarded 5060 and seeing hits on that so that is all you need by the looks! Thanks for the pointers folks.
