I called the Plantronics NZ service number.

Samsung Smart recognises the number and shows it as Plantronics Service Centre.

When called, all I get is "The GSM phone you have called is either switched off or out of coverage"

It seems unlikely to be the case.

Any suggestions/explanations?

Why is this not possible? Sounds like a divert is in place off to a GSM mobile that is switched off or outside of coverage area

0800 number can only have one leading zero.

508692707 isn't even a valid NZ number.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

00-800-54446600 (NZ)

508692707 (NZ)

00-800-54446600 worked for me on a landline "Welcome to poly, formally plantronics" but not from a cellphone (it says it can't be called from this location)

Apple also have a number like this: 00800 7666 7666, although they have an IVR on it now saying to call a different number it still works.

Qantas: 00-800-54446600

00800 and +800 are the same

00800 barely works from lots of places and I know someone that had a 0800 that was the same digits as some apple numbers and got loads of calls from people that 00800 didn't work for them because of office pabx being badly programmed or something.
