Hi All,

OneNZ supply a Deco X53-DSL as their all in one router for fibre and VoIP. I want to install my own router, but I understand I have to use the X53 for the VoIP. A long time ago, Vodafone supplied the HG659, which you could reconfigure at an ATA device only. I'm wondering if you can do the same in the X53.

I really don't want to double NAT, but it seems like that might be the only option. Use the X53 as intended, then connect my router after it.

Any advise?

Thanks!

if you connect the X53 behind your router you'd need to set into your router port fowarding for ports 6050, 51005, 1024-1151 to the X53. Voice should then be ok (I've not tested it myself, but it works on other routers)

You'll need to connect the X53 direct to the fibre first to get the voice working, then try it behind your router after.

you don't need to port forward anything; you need a LAN interface on VLAN 10 issuing DHCP and the UDP timeout needs to be greater than 3600s so the keep alive works.
