Anyone else having issues with their connection tonight?

My internet was DOA when I got home and I haven't been able to get through to the helpdesk (although that's not really a surpise is it?)

Ironically I was jumping on to do some research on another ISP... looks like that'll be 1st priority when I get connected again.

Yeah, I've been down about 5 mins, dialup's working. Haven't been on much today so don't know about earlier tonight.

Yes just died for me 10 minutes ago, am posting with my t-stick.

If it's an x-net problem, I'm switching ISPs after easter. Had enough of unreliability and crap off peak speeds.

not sure if xnet is back up or the change to open dns '208.67.222.222' did the trick, but i'm back online..

There is a good side to these outages though, when it comes back up i actually get some decent international speeds. Well for the few minutes it takes for everyone to realise it's up again :/

Out of interest, what device are you using to do automatic fallover, I have struggled to find a reliable simply router which can do fallover with notification so you know your on a more expensive connection

It's a script I've hacked together myself.

I have an ADSL router at 192.168.1.1, and I have an Ethernet router at 192.168.1.2, connected to a Woosh modem.

On the server here, the script sets a static route to 58.28.13.83 (the Xnet router at the other end of my connection) via 192.168.1.1.

It then pings 58.28.13.83 every couple of minutes using fping. If it's not reachable, it switches the default route to 192.168.1.2 and switches the DNS over to Woosh until Xnet's router is reachable again. It logs as it goes.

We had an issue affecting internet access for certain customers - this has now been resolved - if you are still experiencing the issue - please restart your router.

The issue effected new connections to our core DSL network, users that were connected were fine, new connections were authenticated to the network but routing was blocked within this part of network.

We are looking into the root cause of the issue with our vendors, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

JDNZ: We are looking into the root cause of the issue with our vendors, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

WxC are having issues with a particular piece of hardware from one vendor, trust me, they are as frustrated as you are at not being able to get to the root cause of the issue (they thought they'd banished this gremalin forever last time, seems not to be the case).

Haha, no it's a diff vendor. Gotta be careful what I mention here as I asked this question over beers, and I'm not too sure what I can mention.

It wasn't Export Golds that's for sure

i was having nightly outages in napier on xnet, just switched to telecom, pretty crap support but its better than nothing.
