My daughter has a Nokia 6234 on Vodafone prepay and a day or two ago it stopped connecting. I have tried taking the battery and sim out for a few minutes and then putting the phone back together to no avail. I swapped the sim cards (from my phone) and still no luck so there must be a hardware fault somewhere.

When I start the phone it comes back with "no network coverage".  I then search for providers through the menu and Vodafone 2g/3g shows up which I select.  It then says 'requesting" and an error message of "no network access".  I phoned Vodafone support and there are no problems with the prepay acount (i.e. has money and is active).

I am going to take the phone into Vodafone tomorrow, but thought I would check with the helpful people here first.

Thanks in advance for any help/ideas etc....

Rob

If the phones not connecting to the network with either SIM its more or less a phone issue.

That particular model has a 24month warranty, check the date it was purchased and get it sent away.

Have you checked the handset has the latest software version from nokia.com?

I have not checked the phone software version... I will do that through nokia software updater now.

Thanks for the responses!

Just followed up and I do have the latest version (05.43)....  so guess it is not that.

Also lock the handset to GSM only under network settings any issues then? And if you leave the area does the same thing happen?

I locked to GSM and it connected - twice. I now get alternating messages of "no network coverage" and "connection error". Some progress though I guess.
