Just got this phone yesterday, went to load the PC Suite program, no problems there, but I cannot access the icon which allows access to editing your contacts or messages - they are greyed out and i cannot find anyway of accessing them. Anyone out there got some hints for me?? Thanks

Check out the samsung website and make sure you have the latest software first

Lots of info on Samsungs

For PC Studio. You can download it from our Samsung website under Support->Manuals & Software->your phone model. Consult the installation guide.

choose any phone as they all look to use PC Studio III 2.0.9

This may not affect what you are trying to do as firmware is more affected by accessing parts of Vodafones network like Vodafone Live. Mind you if you is older firmware there may be issues using the pc suite.

Firmware is like the operating system on your handset like windows there are upgrade patches and a new firmware is just a upgraded patch to make you phone behave differently. Often phones that are sold here in NZ have a different software version and are customised for them to work on Vodafone NZ, (usually most gsm handsets are fine for voice etc here in NZ)

If yours is imported your may not be able to acess things like Vodafone Live.

Please note the upgrade is Free if a NZ Vodafone handset and is under warranty just not a imported handset.

Try entering this code to check your version

use *#742695# to get the info.

Ring these guys to check latest version and how much to do the reflashing.

if i purchased this phone in the past week I'd hope to get the latest firmware, whilst this isnt always possible I would definetly talk to the retailer who sold it to me and get them to update the firmware for free before I paid MFR to do it

certainly did, picked it up on Friday :)
am thinking of taking the CD back to where I got it (not an imported one) and asking for an updated one!!
you would think if they supplied it with the phone, that all the bits would work?? (hahaha maybe thats asking a bit much lol)

Yep you would hope so, but like a lot of stuff it may have been made last year and sat in a warehouse for 6 months before you got it.

You are luckly you brought it new from NZ approved Voda dealer or retail store then you can swap it out.

yeah, have been stung with imported ones before, would definately not recommend them - stick to the nz approved retailers from now on :)
