As Telecom has recently increased their data-caps to some of their plans will Telstra do the same?
We are a family of 6, 4 being heavy youtube users and go over our 40gb limit quite easily!

No one knows if Telstra will do the same.

Why not just switch ISP if 40gb isnt enough for you?

Vodafone was actually the first in increase the data, Telecom appears to have followed.

We have TV & Phone with Telstra and enjoy the reliable speeds of their cable network compared to other isps using adsl

I hope I can be forgiven for pointing out (yet again) that "watch this space", "soon", etc, from TelstraClear means "at least six months" or "never" and/or "not anywhere near as good as you'd hoped". It happens every single time. And I have pointed it out every time I've had the opportunity to do so here on Geekzone, and I've yet to be wrong. I'd love to be wrong. Please, TelstraClear, put egg on my face. Prove me wrong. Just this once.

Mobile data is completely different to landline data. Not much has changed on that front recently, and I wouldn't expect anything to happen just at the moment.

The limits have already been upped on Cable so I would not be expecting any more increases in the short/medium term.

I'd like to think they will at least come out with something better than that

I've been with TC for about 6 years and I've always been a big advocate of their cable over Telecom copper but lately the company seems to be stagnating. No more 6monthly product updates which I remember from my university days, unresolved tbox issues and customer support which seems to get worse rather than better. Too much time spent advocating their position on Skynet and UFB and not enough spent improving their products and services.

If my socks haven't been rocked by the end of September I will jump on that half price Slingshot deal.

Please give me an excuse to stay... anything.

Hmm wouldn't recommend Slingshot if you are used to the speed/performance of cable.

Rather than going from the high price/high performance to low price/low performance why not go for the middle ground which at the moment is Snap, Vodafone and Orcon?

.. or Telecom which at the moment is medium price/high performance (imo).

Too late. Canceling data on my tc phone tomorrow. Gone to vf. Sorry been asking for awhile if anything was going to happen. 200mb for a smartphone is not enough.

The truth is there just isn’t much variation in the plans that fit my requirements. I use 60-80Gb p/m streaming audio and video. I don’t want a phone line and I don’t want any restrictions on when or what I can use my bandwidth for. I want a fully featured luxury car without paying the ridiculous dealers mark-up.

Telecom Pro 60GB $96/m
Telstraclear lightspeed 60GB $96/m
Snap Naked 55GB $95/m
Slingshot all you can eat $80
Orcon 60GB $105/m
Vodafone 45GB $95 90GB $125 plus a $30 discount with an on account mobile plan

My best option looks to be the discounted 90GB VF plan but I’m still hoping TC can woo me back with something shiny and new.
