The entry level pricing that Vodafone introduced comes as no surprise to me. Why did anybody expect to see something that completely blew Vodafone's existing pricing plans out of the water? Why did people expect to see $40 per month plans?
Some people need to take a deep breath and say to themsevles "It's only a phone"

I still think the price of mobile data is a joke - I mean it costs nothing to transit across the network, and they own an ISP.

No, iPhone will not be available on Prepay. You need to have subscribed to either an iPhone plan or alternatively a standard On account plan (You Choose, talkZone, or Corporate) with a compatible Broadband plan for mobiles.
