ALTRON: I suppose iphone 5 users go through a bit more battery while running on LTE?

I guess it's true, "How do you know if someone has an iPhone? They tell you."

It removes DC as well? Bummer! I may as well leave it on then. Thanks!

dickytim:
mrkgoo: Interesting!

I have an iPhone 5 and just now notice that it has an 'enable LTE' slider that it didn't before. I wonder if that came in the 6.1.2 update or was activated when 4g coverage became available?

Anyway, I'm on prepay so no 4G for me. I was just wondering if switching LTE off will reduce battery drain somewhat? I know johnr says battery won't change much ON LTE, but what about off? In my experience, turning off radios you don't use prevents them from searching, which IS a big drain.

And if I do turn it off on the iPhone, will the 3G connection still be the DC 3G?

Doesn't turning LTE off remove access to dual carrier as well?

That is what I found.

Nope not related DC and 4G are very different

Oh, I guess that makes more sense. So disabling lte on my iPhone means I will just use 3G, and that will still be dual-carrier if available?

Johnr, are plans going to be increased? You can go through $120 worth of data in 10 minutes.

I was wrong, 3G DC does work when you turn off LTE, it was just a coincedence when I turned it off previously I had a slow connection, tested again today and with LTE turned off I still got 20mbps.

My appologies for the misinformation.

Will the coverage maps on the website be updated with a 4G option?
