A word of warning - this isn't always a reliable test. Some phones support VoLTE (on 4G) but cannot handle VoLTE for emergency calling and require 3G for this. This isn't always immediately clear and I'm not going to advise you to dial 111 just to test it.



Surely there is a way to test emergency calling, without making a 111 call?

Just   call 111 and you'll get  a recorded announcement asking  you  to wait.  If you get that  it works.
