Oh look, Berhampore nodes! Getting warmer... :D

Then again, I'm not 100% sure what node I'm on. For all I know, one of those could be the magic fix. Unlikely, though.

Regardless, I'm happy to see some seemingly major progress again.

Yeah, getting a bit closer to you. I'm not too certain about the exact geographical precision of the suburb identification, those specific nodes may to a bit further south and include parts of Island Bay, but I don't have access to an exact coverage map.

These changes benefit not just the nodes/areas that are listed, but it makes more capacity available to others as well.

VodafoneDylan:

We have more planned work today. Initially was going to start at 11am but has been postponed to 2pm, so it may not *all* be able to be completed today, but it's all looking very promising.

We have a list of areas in Wellington region that will experience a brief interruption to cable broadband service on Vodafone Community here http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/Cable-broadband-upgrades-in-Wellington-region/m-p/197438#U197438

Like normal I'll keep an eye on the email notigfications and will update you on progress later today.

The engineers have decided to postpone the work that was planned for today, most probably until Monday. The work that has already been completed this week should have already improved performance for Cable connections in Wellington and there's more to come when this work is completed.

Thanks again for your patience.

The connection is bloody deplorable tonight. I'm having a LAN party with five other friends before many of us go back to uni after next week, and the connection is a damn disgusting disappointment.

I'm not going to submit a speed test since it won't be entirely accurate, but our internal network is by no means congested/saturated. I thought it was just the WiFi having issues at first, so I went and talked to a flatmate. He's having similar major problems just over a wired connection. He can't even access several sites. He seemed to be complaining about Twitch in particular.

Seriously, this is downright unacceptable. I just want to enjoy my time with my friends, but this connection is constantly preventing me from doing that.

Fortunately, three of my friends are looking at moving towards new flats, so we may be looking at places that have fibre connections available. I've never experienced so much stress and frustration with an Internet connection before.

Vodafone also sadly has not responded to our further personal enquiries. I'm about ready to more seriously investigate escalating this to TDR. I shouldn't have to deal with this rubbish every single night.

Dylan and John: I appreciate your guys' communication here so much. You guys have been quite transparent with us and I would have thrown in the towel ages ago had their not been any updates. I just wish that the rest of Vodafone could get their act together. It's atrocious that such a major issue can continue for this prolonged of a time. We as consumers simply should not excuse that.

"Just the facts, ma'am"

Island Bay, cable 100/10 Mbps, measured via ethernet:

At 4pm:

At 6pm:

At 9pm:

At 9:40pm:

The connection is so unstable that getting a meaningful speed measurement is difficult - four consecutive speed measurements on the same server at one-minute intervals may give four completely different results.

Worthless again tonight. It's getting to the point I'd actually be better off on VDSL.

Or even ADSL, as Mr Freitas has pointed out earlier in this thread.

And that work is completed now. Will be interested to know if that helps things this evening.

So far so good. Things have been decent this afternoon. Hopefully it keeps up...

The test shoots right up to the 100+ Mbps range as well. Usually it hovers in the mid-double-digits range for several seconds before hitting that point.
