Feel like I'm missing out, my wired VTV has never missed a beat.

Yeah - except we still need to contend with an user interface that I find difficult! Then there is the 90% of programs we can catchup or 'save', 70% or which seem to be one that I and many others, don't watch.
Things we won't find out, but would be interesting:
* Are most VTV users happy with their device?
* How many people have purchased one, then effectively dumped it?
* Have people with leased ones from Vodafone cancelled them?
* Perhaps we should all set back and push this video to our VTV's (YouTube app is excellent!) https://youtu.be/7WKHHUnknLk

Have to say I've purchased two and am very happy with them.  It really changes the experience of watching TV for the better and there's nothing else like it out there.

In the last few days our VTV gen2 has been playing up. At random times we will get a black screen. The sound from the last selected station will be playing but no image. The only way to bring it back is to power cycle the VTV. Doing a soft turn off to standby does nothing to remedy. This is occurring free to air, Sky channels or using the Apps such as Prime, Disney or YouTube. The VTV unit does not feel warm and is in a well ventilated location.

Any ideas?

1. Yes. We measure this.

2. the vast majority are in daily use.

3. For "leased ones" I presume you mean those that are bundled with some Vodafone Broadband plans?  With any broadband plan there is always some churn (people moving house, people changing providers etc) and so there is some churn of the VTV bundled with that broadband. However, there is *lower* churn on the broadband plans that have VTV bundled... so customers like the product and this is why we offer it!

4.  Good to hear you like the YouTube app!

We only want Freeview broadcast TV and much prefer the T-Box to do tthat, but of course that will stop working one day. I agree that there seems to be nothing else that works as well as VTV. I've not tried Android or Apple TV based systems, I guess they will have pluses and minuses. We have a low-end Dish-TV box, and MythTV, and agree that VTV is better than either of those, except for the number of programs we can only watch live on the main interface.

No idea.  If you DM me the details of the VTV that has these issues, we can investigate.

Very happy with mine. Like can set on app to record, like that gets me the series not just current ep if I had missed one. Wish more on Bravo or HGTV could record. Wish could watch on iPad (when at home) recordings, wish could watch Freeview live away via app. Wish had more apps (Plex, Acorn Tv, Twitch, etc).

Live TV rewinding not working -- TV2 has reappeared in my guide now after it vanished the other day. However I'm trying to watch the current movie "Romeo Must Die" from the start. It started at 8pm and the time is now 8.40pm. It's not an ad break. But when I rewind, after about 5 seconds the rewinding process cancels and it jumps back to the present.  This happens with both the << and the |<- versions of rewind.

The movie is not available via the TVNZ On Demand app either. What's going on and is it possible to watch the program from the start ?

If its a current TV show you can press ok and select to play from start.

When I press OK the only options that appear are "Subtitles" and "Audio Language".  It does not have "Restart" like appears on some other programs on other channels.

Yes very weird - just checked and there isn’t a restart option. Haven’t seen that before.

@sansom : Good to hear you like the YouTube app!

I like a few things. The remote is cool! All the apps work well! (But we need more.) It generally plays live TV well! Things the nasty rights-holders allow us to watch retrospectively also play well!
I also like that Vodafone NZ is half owned by a Kiwi company.

Good that Vodafone NZ pays attention to usage stats too! The next, even bigger, question is the proportion of VTV users whose story ends up on Geekzone. Perhaps @freitasm has an idea on that? It would give some sort of indication of how many other customers have similar issues to those documented here. Some customers will go to other social media. Some will put up with things not working correctly.

You can tell I'm a researcher.

Overall we are quite happy with Vodafone. We have had cable for about fifteen years and it has never been as reliable as it has been since we got DOCSIS 3.1. Worked a treat during lockdown.

Cheers!
Steve

Have to say we have four of these, two of each generation, and after a rough start when there wasn't visuall search we would never go back to freeviews /mysky, the WAF is now very high but there was some stress in the early days.

Yes these are a few programs you can't record ,/ catch-up but once you accept you need to use the on demand apps and can't skip through the adds then life is good.

Would say all four are hard wired and we just leave them on and they rarely miss a beat.
