actually I am interested in the real answer to this. From what I understand the deloreans now are actually very hard to get hold of. Did they fly over to the states to use one?

There are a couple in NZ as I understand, I have no idea how they got hold of one, Maybe James had a spare DeLorean in his garage

Thanks for the info, johnr. Legend as always. The enable lte switch finally makes sense!

I'm going to turn off lte to see if I get better battery life since I can't use it anyway. I find my battery life on wifi as advertised but on 3G a bit less.

Hmmm. $120 a month for 2GB on 4G speeds.

Just for some perspective, when Telstra introduced 4G last year in Australia the most expensive plan was $99 per month and provided 12GB. Once 12GB had been reached, speed slowed to 64kpbs until the next cycle.

I think 2GB at the time was $39 per month. Really amazing how there can be such a huge difference in value and usage across the tasman, despite the Vodafone press releases implying that international usage of 4G shows that data caps need to remain so low here. They clearly forgot about our closest neighbour.

I know it's a common excuse, but i'm sure it must apply in this situation. Delivering 4G to 22+ million vs 4+ million isn't exactly comparable?

Interesting about the claims of data usage, similar to when they took away the 3gb claiming it would only affect small portion of their customers. I would imagine data usage growth would be exponential, uptake of technology, improving quality of streaming material, HD audio and video etc.

where are you looking for the telstra plan?

shows the biggest plan to be 3GB, and that costs $100AUD per month, or around 124NZD, so I find that pretty comparable.

I'm npot syaing you are lying, I just think you might be misremembering what the plans were. Maybe you saw the mobile broadband plan that is 15GB for $95 AUD, but it's pretty unfair to compare vodafone's mobile plan, that includes voice and text minutes, with Telstras broadband only plan (VF doens't have any large MBB plans, but it's 2Gb plan is only $50 ($60 for 4G variant), not the $120 you quoted in your post.

so please try and compare apples with apples.

That doesn't appear to be relevant? Australia $60 for 8GB, Kenya $56 for 8GB. Does Vodafone NZ do bundle add-ons, or is it $0.20 MB after your included data (so a bit less than $1600 for 8GB when you take off your included data.)

Google says around $2,278 NZD or 160,000 KES per month.

It is all irrelevent.

Vodafone is a business, if there price is too high don't use them, if the price of all mobile broadband is too high don't use it. I actually think that for my $19 per month I am seeing reasonable value.

Here's an idea, don't stream HD movies on the go.

It is what we will be doing with 4G speeds on a daily basis in 5 to 10 years time that we don't do now with 3G that excites me.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Hi really enjoying the new speed but the data limits are going to be a problem. I went to a cafe in town tethered my iPhone 5 to my ipad and streamed netflix for 50 minutes and 700mb gone just like that. The quality was better than using my R208 wifi hotspot no buffering or degrading of picture quality. LTE will allow us to do more faster and in higher quality. My plan includes 4gb of data per month for my phone. Lets hope Vodafone relax the limits :)
