So is anyone keeping tabs of how many times this thing has been delayed?
StarBlazer:
What's the point reviewing something that is in alpha test? Why is it even in the shop? TCL should have kept quiet until they were actually ready to release a product - no adverts, no mail-outs and no 'register your interest' campaign. Now they are having to deal with a social media backlash - incompetence if you ask me!
Apple have sold 1m+ iPad units in less than a month - all that design, testing and manufacturing happened in the quiet - they launch with a near perfect unit - I'm not an iFanboi, but you have to congratulate them for a job well done. TCL are showing us they have little to no real R&D, rubbish PR and that they don't care we get to hear about every delay in bringing the product to market.
Did Sky have the same problems - possibly - but did we hear about them? Not that I remember. Yes it's better to get the product right rather than releasing a product that keeps breaking down or needs to be patched weekly - but this is pointless and not helping their reputation.
Well as far as I can tell, they've been doing this constantly since Alan Freeth became CEO. The reason is obviously to get people to stay in anticipation of X being released "soon". Why release a competitive product or service early in the game when you can drag out the introduction for months or years, while keeping all your customers from leaving?
