In case there is any uncertainty about the Consumer Guarantees Act and whether one needs to go to the retailer or manufacturer (which includes distributor, according to the the definition on page two).

Do I have to deal with the manufacturer?

Where goods are not of acceptable quality, or do not comply with the manufacturer’s description, you have the right to choose whether to go to the manufacturer or retailer for a remedy.

There is no requirement to go to the retailer it is the purchasers choice from whom they wish to seek remedy.

@MikeB4 ... I would qualify my previous comments about heading straight to the retailer because in this particular instance the wholesale supplier requires a lot of information and confirmation regarding the product's purchase before they become a party to any refund/re-supply etc, as you have found, WHEREAS the retailer is already geared up to action these matters literally immediately, there-and-than.

In my experience, going back to where you bought the device really is the quickest, easiest way to go and likely to get you an immediate result.

Yes, you do have the choice from whom you wish to seek remedy, but as you have now found your first choice is proving lengthy and protracted?

You may want to read the law again.

@Smithy47:

You may want to read the law again.

You might want to read the linked PDF, page 16:

"Where goods are not of acceptable quality, or do not comply with the manufacturer’s description, you have the right to choose whether to go to the manufacturer or retailer for a remedy. If you choose to claim a remedy from the retailer, the retailer must not tell you that you have to go back to the manufacturer, or that you have to claim under a manufacturer’s warranty. Likewise if you choose to go to the manufacturer they should not tell you to go to the retailer. If either of them do this, they may be misleading you about your rights and breaching the Fair Trading Act."

great to see that vodafone TV are offering sky sports without the need to sign up to the sky starter pack, would be great if they could do same with the other sky ‘add ons’ like Entertainment and Movies etc.

Hopefully it's an oft repeated one - I would gladly swap from SkySportNow to Sky Sports through vodafone tv.
