BarTender: The funny thing is 13MB ADSL is around the country average.

I wonder if anyone on this thread will finally give up and go back to copper on the anniversary. Which is only a few weeks away.

An important difference between ADSL and cable is that Vodafone sell HFC as "Ultra Fast Broadband" - which it is not.

The national average speed is irrelevant, as it is an average of several completely different (and mostly slower) technologies.

If I buy a Porsche, I don't expect to get a Toyota Corolla.

I have nothing against Toyota Corollas - they do not pretend to be what they are not.

That maybe so. But considering how long this thread has been going on if it were me I would have moved to xDSL months ago. 14mb ADSL and I happily stream 720p and sometimes 1080 on Netflix. Plus the kids stream YouTube without a drama.

ramboky: @johnr Have you had a chance to ask about WKH yet?

And what were the results of looking into my account? You were pretty vague as to your purpose when you asked for my details.

Quoting myself here in the hope of getting an answer. To both questions please.

I don't know about anyone else, but the reason I'm still here is Vodafone keep stringing us along by suggesting the resolution is just a week or two away.

Serious question - what's stopping you (and Kodiack and anyone else affected) from jumping ship to ADSL or VDSL, apart from the stringing along? Contract? Can you get VDSL or ADSL? I know I personally would have moved ages ago if I was in the same boat.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Vodafone cable is great for 22 hours a day and even when it's crap, it's usually still faster than ADSL. I'm currently waiting on a VDSL install so I can make a comparison. If it's reasonable, I'll happily ditch Vodafone.

I have no good alternative options :

1. No fibre option until late 2019

2. Tried ADSL2 with master filter etc: 12/0.7 Mbps

3. Tried VDSL2 with master filter etc: 13/4 Mbps  (line length 900m)

4. Am on contract - expensive to break and no better options

frown okay that does suck then. Still, I would rather have the VDSL option and know that I'll get a fairly consistent speed all the time (as opposed to slowing down to crawl at peak time). As to the contract, yes, I can see where you're coming from then.

But surely all the other people in here aren't on contracts too? This thread is almost a year old, so surely they must be coming to an end now, leaving others (not in a contract) free to jump ship?

Given the issues, I think they'd have a good case for breaking the contract without penalty if there were other options that worked.

Had a meeting yesterday with PM and more comms will be coming soon and the project team is working as fast as possible, Node WKH is very close to getting some much needed TLC, We understand it must be frustrating

I would like to say more but it's best it comes as official comms

Thanks :)

Today is painful. >_< Had a 1080p60 video drop down to 360p, and it's not even 5 pm yet.

The connection is downright flipping terrible tonight. Netflix dropped down to 320x240 with 64 Kbps audio, AND IT WAS BUFFERING FOR MORE THAN FOUR MINUTES!!

I don't even know what to say. Since I moved to this country, I can't think of any other connection that I've used that performed as poorly as this one is tonight.
