Spyware:
Pointless complaining, it is what it is, i.e., good enough.
No, that is not acceptable. It is not fit for purpose and probably in breach of the CGA.

There appears to be a wide range of user experiences for this product. In my household we have two, and we find them absolutely fit for purpose. Good value for under $100 at the Boxing Day and New Year sales. There have been some issues during the 11 months of use, but they seem to be largely resolved. Forward/rewind in paused or catch-up shows has greatly improved, and I can't remember when I last noticed buffering or freezing but it was some months ago.
In case it matters, our units are set up with Wi-Fi to 2degrees 900Mbps fibre. The unit at the far end of the house from our ISP supplied router connects to a tri-band 5GHz range extender.
I just wish I could watch Netflix on the Vodafone TV...

Stu1: I just wish I could turn the thing on without having to power cycle it every time. I don’t have to unplug the chrome casts or the Apple TV when I switch them on. In the process of sending it back i only paid 99 but that’s not really the point I paid 60 for a gen 1 chromecast and its still works perfectly and out performs the Vodafone tv. It had great potential and a shame they can’t fix simple connection issues
Why do you have to power cycle each time? What error message or error condition are you getting? Are you connected on WiFi or Ethernet, and if on WiFi have you tired connecting on ehternet to ensure all updates are performed first, before going onto WiFi?

Have you checked for router misconfiguration, and perhaps talked with your ISP? Also have you tried the Fast.com Application to see how fast your connection to VTV is? If so what is the speed? Are you on Wi-Fi or on an Ethernet connection?

It’s running fine here. I’m just annoyed that it does less now then when I brought it. Use to be able to watch all TVNZ on three day catch up, now it’s only the stuff I’m not interested in.
The only technical thing not working is watching programs in the application on iPad. Circle goes round, if I walk off and come back 10 minutes later the program will be playing. Though if I pause or try to fast forward it’s another 10 minute wait.
I mentioned it pages ago, no reply. Not a main use, but it’s something that’s suppose to work. I can watch Bull on SkyGo without 10 minute wait.

Are you on Fibre broadband? Are you using WiFi or ethernet to connect VTV? Have you tried the Fast.com Application to see how fast your connection is on VTV? Have you done a Speed Test for WiFi on your IPad to see what speed you are connecting at? Is your IPad connected to a 5GHz Wi-Fi channel?

Thanks, it’s only the Vodafone TV application, I believe it’s not working because somethings wrong at Vodafone’s end. I’m on fibre, using 5GHz, and speed tests on iPad give me just over 200 Mbps down and just over 100 Mbps up, the plan I’m on.
Every other streaming applic works fine and runs instantly, it’s only the VFTV one that won’t. The box runs the TV perfectly as well.
Fast.com just gave me 200 Mbps as well. Latency unloaded 20ms, loaded 44ms.

Is your Wifi Network connected to your LAN or is it on WiFi Network SID which does not connect to the LAN, e.g. a guest SID?

Lets see if anything changes further on the TVNZ front. They are dumping Freeview in June next year, so I suspect that changes in permissions we have on VTV might be part of the same larger policy change.

VTV is (as far as I know) the only way to easily get Freeview channels over the Internet. This is obviously a hard thing to provide, otherwise more people would offer it.
Earlier in the year, in this forum, @sansom suggested that VTV uptake has been satisfactory, and the vast majority of customers are not complaining (not to put down the significant minority who do complain).
The VTV hardware is excellent. Ours doesn't need rebooting (often), doesn't do any stuttering etc (often), and 'recording' always works when the box or app says it will. (We use Myth TV for things we can't save on VTV.) All up, we are happy.
With any luck, Vodafone Aotearoa will continue to slowly maintain the product. Might get DLNA one day! I remain nervously hopeful.

Hi, yep, that’ll be interesting to see what happens with TVNZ and Vodafone TV, with TVNZ doing a push to TVNZ on demand more. Can stream live TV through it,(TVNZ channels) but it’s not Dolby digital, like VFTV.

Guest Network is disabled, iPad is on same network as VFTV box, push to TV works fine and is instant.
I havnt seen this asked? can the vodafone TV be set to use another DNS such as smartdnsproxy.com?
I don't care if live tv stops.. I just want to redirect Youtube to unblock a UK geo stream
