Just some facts about the 4G network I am hearing things like max speed is 100Mbps down the Vodafone NZ 4G network as of today is Cat4

150.8 Mbit/s Down and 51.0 Mbit/s Up

Malingo: Does the plans over $120 rule to those of us on a Corportate plan? I think my plan is $79 per month but obviously there heaps of us on it? Does that's mean I have to get outlet administrator to activate it for the lot?

Corporate plan we're on at work includes it at no extra cost. Trick is to make sure the individual connection is activated, and the plan itself. The plan wasn't activated when I tried to get it turned on, so took a while to resolve (in store didn't know about it).

So it's not a technical reason then? Vodafone could 'flick a switch' and allow 4g access to prepay if they wanted?

Hi JohnR, I'm just looking at a new phone. Would these specs work on the 4G. I'm not sure what the "Bands" are.

why do the LTE bands get called 'band (#)' why not just 700mhz, 1800Mhz, 2100Mhz etc etc

Would make it so much easier to understand.

Vodafone's network is 1800mhz FDD-LTE which is Band 3. That device supports this.

Exactly it's a worry.

as opposed to 1800 GSM EDGE, I can see people buying phones that may or may not work on the network or areas they were expecting. I realise to you guys and girls it's as clear as day and night, but as an end user it just gets curiouser and curiouser

Yeah theres going to be a lot of confusion particularly with the frequencies.

The 700mhz range for example has Bands 13 and 17, which are used in the USA and incompatible. We're going to be using Band 28 when the spectrum is auctioned off. Thats an example of just the "700mhz" range, and you have three entirely incompatible bands within it.

This is why you have to refer to it as "Band 3 LTE" for example, not 1800mhz.
