I know this is in the Vodafone sub but has anyone managed to get Semble to work on their Spark Xperia Z3 D6653 with root access?

I have rootcloak installed and it got past the first hurdle(which is opening the app) but the moment I click "New User" or "Existing User" the app closes out.

I have SmartCard Service so I know it's not that so yeah, a bit out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.

I don't get this idea to forbid people using the app on their own phones if they are rooted.

All New Zealand banks allow people running their apps on the rooted phones... It could be easily fixed by putting a "No warranty" tick or something like that.

Quite disappointed.

I would assume you'd be up in arms if overnight your bank just decided to abandon all aspects of EMV security because staff didn't think it was needed? Because that's what you've just asked for.

Isn't running a rooted device "technically" more secure?

A malicious app can't run as root until you grant it access via supersu/superuser...

Considering that many device manufacturers don't update their devices at all (unless its recent flagships) then for some devices this can be the case. Android can be like swiss cheese in terms of security especially on those unpatched devices.
Though at the same time, rooting it could result in easier privilege escalation, not all rooted setups are going to be hardened.

I would say most people on the street don't have a rooted device. Those that do should know what to trust.
Plus if it attempted to gain root while you weren't using the device the timeout would occur and it would be blocked by default....

I updated Semble this morning and am now getting the error - Semble cannot operate on a phone that is rooted. Visit www.semble.co.nz for more information. (status 1)
My phone is not rooted and is running the stock Samsung firmware, also it was working fine on the previous 3 versions of the app, thats what i get for updating i suppose.

I updated yesterday, and now get "A communication problem occurred. Please try again ... (Status 95). It was working fine previously.

I have uninstall, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. Nothing has fixed it so far. I might actually have to do as the message says and ring Spark.

Since updating I have a giant vodafone on the opening screen and then put my code in and it just stops on a processing twirlly thing. Gave it 20 seconds and nothing happened. Good thing I have a card set as always on because that would be annoying to not be able to open it to pay for something.

Got to the bottom of the issue, i had an old app installed (hide my root) or something along those lines even though the phone is not rooted and hasn't been for the last year or so. I uninstalled this app then Semble opened fine. So must have been checking for this kind of app somewhere in the background. With 2degrees by the way.
