Now all I need to sort is the billing, since I did the switch over from Sky I've been billed without loyalty discount being applied. I queried it the first month and the team member said that they'd made the change to my account. They then applied the credit against my BB account and not my VTV account (weirdly forced to be separate as part of the switchover deal).

Also since the switch over I also seem to paying $30 more for internet and Sky. Sick of trying to resolve it over the phone, perhaps a change is in our future.

Hi @pristle,

Sorry for the delayed response - I haven't properly checked this thread for a while.

If you can direct message me your details I will make sure we sort out your billing.  The objective was for you to get more content on VTV for $10 less per month than what you were paying.

Hi ,

We don't have a date for additional HD channels beyond the current lineup.  It's a large cost in a year where we have to prioritise other significant investments (eg replacement VTV boxes for T-Box users).   Another large investment is the migration of all the various ways we deliver TV at Vodafone (Sky Reseller, T-Box, older VTV bundled with broadband) to all use VTV managed on a common IT stack.  Once we've achieved this consolidation of all TV products to one system (which will take the better part of this year) further investments in the VTV platform will be much easier to justify.

Despite all of this, we are seeking to be able to perform a VTV platform upgrade (which will be to the same version @Kickass has observed in Hungary & Romania) later this year.  This will include an update to the mobile app also.

Finally, The On Demand movies and shows are provided pre-encoded in Stereo 2.0 by Sky.  This is Sky's choice, but I'll ask them again to review their decision.

thanks for the quick reply - Is it possible you may look at swapping some HD channels around(i assume you have a limit on how many HD channels you can have running at once)? I noticed there is some “pop up” channels that are HD, would it make more sense to reduce a few of these to SD to move something like BBC earth/Comedy Central to HD, or maybe swap around when they are required?

Thanks

@sansom - is there any plans a-foot to get the SkySport Now app on VTV?  Would be fanatastic if it were on it's way! :-)

Is it just my box, or is it impossible to set Power Saving Mode - or is there a dependency on some other setting?

I click on the Power Saving Mode button, it turns green and shows the green checkbox but. I then click back into the menu and Instant Mode On is selected.

Same here ... select Power Save, box lights green with tick ... return and it's gone back to Instant.

Apologies if this has been covered in the past 160 pages, but I've just bought a VTV Gen1 box and getting:

"SC115: Set top box unable to reach the server at the moment, please try again."

It's getting an IP address from DHCP and it's pingable

I wondered if it's an ISP (Bigpipe) issue? A previous comment on this thread states "All VTV boxes will work with all ISPs", however my brother who is on Vodafone swears that his VTV will only work on Port 3 of his router (not tested, so can't confirm for sure) which makes me think they must be allowing specific connections somehow?

Alternatively, it's just a bad box I've been sold, but would love some clarification if any of you wise folk can assist! I'm hesitant to go out and buy a new one/Gen2 if I'm going to run into the same issue. Cheers!

Linux:

ABNZ86:

Will a Gen 1 VTV box with update also work with other ISP's? Or is the Gen 2 box the only one that works with ISP's other than Vodafone?
Could be a cheaper option.

Cheers

@ABNZ86 Quote from Vodafone NZ community

Both Gen1 and Gen2 boxes will work on any ISP in NZ.  However you must pay for your Gen1 service as an add-on to a Vodafone broadband plan currently: effectively meaning that you wouldn't run Gen1 on another broadband provider (unless it's been gifted to you by a Vodafone broadband customer)

Quote earlier from the thread stating that both boxes will work on any ISP^

However, in this thread, @Yabanize states that Gen1 requires a vodafone plan: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=40&topicid=261658

Why are you buying a Gen1 stb? I gather you bought it from Facebook or similar?

Actually my brother bought it, and I wasn’t aware there were two generations. Indeed off Marketplace.

Ok good to know, thanks! So the Gen1 boxes won’t work without the Vodafone plan it came with. Can’t believe how hard it is to find that information!
I’ll hunt for a Gen2 box. Easiest way of telling them apart if buying used?

Vodafone TV Gen2 box is different from a Gen1 box in that it has a microphone on the search button, a hole for the microphone above the 2 button, a bluetooth remote, and supports Wi-Fi.

Vodafone could track the id of the gen1 units that have been stolen/mistakenly resold then bill the original owner, Then do the right thing and allow the new purchaser to have the box re-enabled rather than send it to the recycle bin!
