Experienced one of my pet peeves last night. Resume after a pause, f/forward or rewind, and you run the risk of being flung back to the beginning or current position of the program. Using the 'go back 20 sec' button and it's more than likely going to skip back past several ad breaks.

I thought it may be restricted to shows where recording is unavailable, but it happens on 'recorded' shows too.

Except for the sound drop every few minutes - which seems to have been solved by replacing the HDMI cable, ours has been working well. Mind you, our main usage is the Fire TV (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu), with the Vodafone TV being only to catch up one or two TVNZ programs (or the America's Cup live).

MikeB4:

I am considering resurrecting our Vodafone TV which was relegated to the tech storage cupboard(currently plugged in and testing) in the garage as I miss the 3 day catch up and rewind. Couple of questions.....

1. This thread seems to be quiet these days is this due to the bugs in the system are now squashed or is it because most folks have dumped the service?

2. Is there any word on Disney plus coming to Vodafone TV?

I ditched the skybox a month or so ago as paying for the basic package doesn't make any sense & have been using vodafone TV for all the ‘terrestrial’ channels since then.

Haven’t had any significant issues, watching on pause/rewind can go a bit odd at times so don’t really use that. Had the box a couple of years and its always worked fine for me.

I don't know any users who are complaining about bugs or of anyone who has dumped it. Our common complaint is not being able to record everything.

We mainly use it to watch the various apps for which it has been very successful even with the technologically inept. The Neon app, for example, is easier to use with the remote than in a web browser. From most used app to least used: Netflix, Neon, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Three and TVNZ.

The main Vodafone TV app still has infrequent/intermittent issues which are difficult to reproduce - they probably occur once a week on average. Less frequently do we get problems with the other apps.

* The most common problem I have is freezing after several cycles of short FFWD / FRWD with watching a few seconds.

* Can lose sound but not picture and have to do either a soft or hard restart.

It is sounding a bit more promising than my experience last year.

As I have previously reported, now had Voda TV installed and used for a year now with no major glitches in any manner.

Very, very occasionally, there will be a black-screen when transitioning between an ad' break and continuing to watching an OnDemand program.  However since this has also happened when streaming same to computer, I suspect it is something at TVNZ's end of things.

Simply pressing the Back button, and then the OK to Resume clears the glitch and the stream starts again from where it left off.

We've used ours since the HFCMax upgrade in Febish, not long I'll admit.  To date the only big issue we have is lipsync.  We don't watch much "normal" TV, primarily the sports channels, and Netflix and Neon.  For the sports channels there is very little talking heads TV but with Netflix and Neon the lipsync issues make the channels unwatchable on the VTV Gen 2 box.  So we revert to our "smart" TV which has apps for many of the major streaming services, to watch Netflix and Neon, the TV apps don't suffer lipsync issues, the T-Box didn't suffer lipsync issues either, and Chromecast doesn't suffer them..

I'm not sure where that leaves me, the box is good for some things I don't particularly like the UI, we don't try and record much so we haven't missed that functionality as much as we thought we might.  But the lipsync issue is the killer for us.

We watch almost exclusively On Demand or 'recorded' content. Get that problem on NewsHub live at Six (recorded), but not noticed it on anything else. Been that way since we got VTV about eight months ago.

Have you always had lipsync issues with Neon?

We didn't notice it until late last year.

Don't have any lipsync issue here with Netflix (we don't use NEON so wouldn't know.)

There are two different audio settings for Vodafone TV, Dolby Digital and Stereo that you could try.

Also get the occasional fling back when you try to rewind / fast forward

@IvanPiacun ... yeah, I'm getting that too BUT I 'think' it is because the plus-1 transmission hasn't finished yet.

I have observed beforen that some FTA programs will not be available for Catchup until all transmissions have been completed, viz. both the scheduled broadcast and the plus one hour channels.

Will test that theory in a couple of minutes now that plus-1 broadcast has finished.

Still getting the error message for a number of TV One programs .... I think it is at the TVNZ end of things.

Same program from OnDemand works fine.
