@SteveC ... thanks for that. I'll try a hard reboot of the device, but I just don't know if it is my network, the device, Vodafone, or TVNZ's fault.
Everything else with the VodaTV works fine, including live channels, Prime Video, and ThreeNow, so I assumed network etc is OK ... as I said it is only the TVNZ OnDemand app streams that faults.
Are you talking about the Vodafone TV Gen 2? Not all programs can be "recorded" or restart - it depends on licensing.
The +1 channels are not available as you could in theory restart or catchup with a program up to three days after it aired (depending on the conditions from my previous comment).

Rickles:
After a year if literally trouble free usage of the VodaTV device, the last 3 or 4 nights has been damn awful.
The problem appears only for TVNZ OnDemand using the built-in app, and manifests itself by the streaming stopping after the advertisement breaks.
Sometimes I get the "Cannot connect to file ..." type message, other times there are other messages, but in all instances adverts either repeat several times, or it jumps back to the programs episodes list, or even goes right back to the episode beginning. Pressing OK on any of these options usually starts yet another set of loops AFTER yet another set of adverts playing!
I once went through about 8 of these loops before the episode resumed correctly.
It looks like the people and/or system that inserts adverts at various places isn't too hot and doesn't know how to resume the episode.
Anyone else getting this?
Yep, since last weekend and got sick of watching the same King's College ad for the millionth time lol
Good to know I'm not the only one having the issue.

I keep getting endless ad's to go visit Australia ... now, if I were a conspiracy theorist ... 🤪
Hello all,
After a brief look through the pages of the forum I couldn't find anything so crashing this thread.
If this has been covered elsewhere before please let me know.
Just setting up the new Voda TV Gen 2 (VTVG2) box.
Everything going great until I checked the picture. Loads of interference picture flashing, no sound (although this may be another problems altogether)
So far trouble shooting has involved
1) Changing HDMI cable from VTVG2 to amp - no change
2) Changing HDMI cable from amp to TV - no change
3) Using different amp and repeating 1 and 2 no change
4) Plugged directly in to TV - great picture
5) Plugged Amp and VTVG2 into same power board - no change
6) Repeated 1) 2) and 5) using different HDMI in port on amp - no change
7) Used comically long HDMI and Ethernet cables to get away from amp and other electrical /rf interference - no change
8) Repeated 7) but put VTVG2 in metal box to shield - no change
Apple TV works perfectly via both amps
Amp is Harman Kardon
Any ideas?
Cheers
Have you tried bypassing the amp (for now) and connecting the VTV direct to TV? If that's then OK, it could be a handshaking issue. With one of my VTV boxes, I was connecting it to a near new 4K compatible Onkyo receiver, and from there to an older 1080P only capable TV. The VTV doesn't like this at all. This was a disaster when handshaking, until I utilised a Triax THC22 HDCP Converter between the VTV and receiver. I now have that available for sale, as I've since upgraded to a new 4K TV, hence it's no longer required. The VTV is the only device of many That I've tried that's been hit by this issue, and there doesn't seem to be any easy way around it.

Hi Spong,
Thanks for the tip.
What's your opinion on the device sorting the 'no sound' issue?
Will PM you about buying the device you describe.
Cheers

No sound problems experienced here. I'm assuming you're expecting sound to be included over the HDMI connection to your AV Receiver which is normal. In the VFTV Settings menu, check Audio & Visual settings and ensure what you have set under Audio Output can be decoded by your receiver. Most AV receivers should do Dolby Digital, as would most TVs these days. "Stereo" would just be an analog fall back for very old AV Receivers and TVs. The Volume buttons on the VFTV remote also affect what comes across the HDMI connection. If you have bad picture disturbances through this pathway possibly due to handshaking issues, maybe this is preventing audio also? Do you get correct audio when connecting the VFTV direct to your TV?

I would love for my VTV to actually turn on with the remote.
I would say at least 80% of the time I just get the blue screen and I need to power cycle using the power cable.
How/why is this not fixed yet.

Have you enabled HDMI-CEC?
Would it be possible to test with a different HDMI cable?
