ABNZ86:

I would love for my VTV to actually turn on with the remote.

I would say at least 80% of the time I just get the blue screen and I need to power cycle using the power cable.

How/why is this not fixed yet.

Have you Bluetooth paired your remote with VTV?

I controlling via a harmony remote.

The remote will power on the VTV box (light will go from red to green) however 8 times out of 10 i just get a blue screen. Power cycle with the remote doesn't change anything. I physically need to cycle VTV power by unplugging the power cable and putting it back.

I've never bothered programming our Harmony (non-Bluetooth) remote for VTV. The Vodafone remote does 80% of what we want. Every so often we need to use the input button on the TV remote.

I think the Bluetooth remote is one of the best features of VTV!

Use the the VTV remote and pair it with the VTV and the TV then if you have a problem with a blue screen you can hold your hand over the front of the VTV remote and still turn on VTV using Bluetooth.

I bought a VTV box from a Vodafone shop recently. The setup worked all fine. The problem I am having is if you switch from TV to Netflix or back to TV the screen goes blank for 1min and 10 secs(every time)

I have tried a reset, talked to Vodafone and they told me to check with the Internet provider or return it to the shop. Netflix works fine on the Apple TV. I am plugged into the network, not wireless.

VTV menu is all happy in the menu and Netflix speed test is fine as well. Seems an unusual fault.

@Miller ... I don't have Netflix, but do subscribe to another streaming service (Amazon Prime), and can confirm that switching between the two (using either the Menu or the Exit buttons) is instantaneous.

How and can I set a reminder for a future programme on VTV. I can’t see any way to do this. It was a valuable feature on the Tbox that was often used.

Our bedroom Gen2 unit has become laggy again (in terms of the UI not being as responsive as it usually is) anyone else experiencing this?

A reboot fixes it

I've only had one occurrence of sluggish UI.  Reboot fixed it.

So ... I just bought a VTV Gen 2 and have a couple of questions for the more experienced users that I haven't found by skimming through this 'very long' thread! :-)

1/  Is there a point to the MyTV section that takes up about a quarter of the home page? Mine is basically blank (apart from a small "Welcome to MY TV" message) and selecting it does nothing?

2/ Can you rearrange the order of the apps? We don't use Prime Video or Neon so those two slots would be better used by Three Now and YouTube for me.

3/ In my 'very' limited usage it appears that one of the programs you can't pick up on the 3 day rewind is TV3 6:00pm news? I really didn't expect that to be one of the shows that had difficult licencing rights?? You appear to be able to view TV One 6:00 news OK. I think I can set it to record TV 3 every night and then hopefully watch it in Timeshift but seems silly to waste recording space for something that you might just want to start timeshift watching at 6:20pm and then don't want to keep. Have I missed something obvious here?

Cheers

@dklong ... with my using of the device -

     >1/  Is there a point to the MyTV section that takes up about a quarter of the home page? Mine is basically blank (apart from a small "Welcome to MY TV" message) and selecting it does nothing?<

That Section fills up with 2 or 3 of your most recently viewed program headers .... handy if watching something regulalrly as one just clicks on it to get it.

     >2/ Can you rearrange the order of the apps? We don't use Prime Video or Neon so those two slots would be better used by Three Now and YouTube for me.<

No.

No Rewind, but viewable after-the-fact using the ThreeNow app.

Funny you ask ...

MyTV section: as @Rickles points out, this will fill up. Watch out for using it for recordings though - if you watch a recording by clicking on MyTV, when you finish watching, there is not option to delete the recording. You have to scroll down to 'Recordings' anyway, so might as well go there in the first place. (& be careful not to delete the series, which comes up before 'delete recording')
@dklong: 1/ Is there a point to the MyTV section that takes up about a quarter of the home page?
In our experience, no point at all. It would be far more valuable to have 'Recordings' in that space.
2/ Can you rearrange the order of the apps?
See point 1/ for yet one more (of many) reasons why this would be a good idea.
3/ In my 'very' limited usage it appears that one of the programs you can't pick up on the 3 day rewind is TV3 6:00pm news?
Can record or restart NewsHub 6:00pm (& Project)! No 3 day on either, and ThreeNow doesn't seem to have them until at least after they have been broadcast on 3+1. Very few of the programmes we like on Three can be recorded.

Overall I love the hardware (especially the Bluetooth remote) and the apps seem to work well, but I consider the user interface design to be sadly lacking in the above and a number of other ways. You'll get use to it.

I think I recall a post here a few months back from @sansom saying that further VTV new feature development was likely to be delayed while Vodafone roll out a few thousand more of them to those who still have a T-Box.

Thanks @SteveC

Useful insights. :-)

In your comment below was the first word meant to be "Can't" or is "Can" correct?

I had noticed separately that ThreeNow doesn't appear to have things until quite a lot later so not much use if you've just missed the start by 20 minutes and want to catch up over dinner. :-)
