Quite a bit off LTE advanced that is like category 10

No I realise I was just saying that the max theoretical speed of LTE advanced is 150mb/s down and 51 up.

just some questions:

1. Is LTE real 4G or is it just branded as 4G?

2. Exactly how far away are we from LTE advanced?

i dont even have enough data cap for proper HSDPA let alone LTE ... i'm not too worried :)

From Coffee Baron on Page 17 of this thread - Vodafone running Cat4 = 150/50
But some devices will only be Cat3 = 100/50

Since I don't work for Vodafone I couldn't answer this question but knowing the kit Vodafone have deployed they have the ability to switch on LTE Advanced within a very short period of time should they choose to do so.

There is no point is doing so however because there are no mass market LTE advanced devices and the only live LTE Advanced network is a small scale network in Moscow.

From my understanding you don't need more bandwidth with LTE advanced in fact you could have much less, of course if I am wrong I would love to be corrected.

i dont mean more spectrum, i mean like they'll have to pay chorus more for more bandwidth from the cellsite to their core network, would they not?

Because the geeks at gz will complain the data cap is too low etc etc etc the teen s mum will complain her bill is a million bucks lady month and every one in the media will crucify Vodafone for bad commerce ... too big a risk! This cat 4 is the sweet spot

If there are no devices that support it, then there would be no extra bandwidth since nobody wouldbe using it.

There are probably licensing costs, so not point paying for licenses when it is not being used.
