After months of terrible YouTube performance on TelstraClear, with clips being unwatchable......tonight, it's even worse! If you are thinking of switching to TCL and like YouTube -- don't.

my response from my complaint...

Thank you for contacting us.

Sorry to hear about the problems you have been experiencing with the performance of Youtube. We are aware of the issue, it is external to the TelstraClear Network, however, our System Designs team are working with other parties to improve the situation.

Apologies for the inconveniences caused during this time.

Kind regards,
Dave Huavi

Going off topic a little:

In the coming months we will be launching a whole new range of products and services to the consumer market.

Hmm, now where have I heard that before...

Oh yeah:

In the coming months we will be launching a totally new range of packages and services which will allow us to better meet our customers demands whilst continuing to offer real choice and competition in the market.

From February 2009 - exactly 1 year ago, also in a "TC Update" newsletter. Funny, THAT didn't happen. Hmm, it'll happen this time, right???

Sorry yuxek, the image is a joke, it's not real.

However, youtube performance has been a lot better starting yesterday afternoon. 720p will play without buffering, 1080p almost.

Right this very second it's terrible again, 360p won't even play more than a second before re-buffering, so who knows what is going on.

Cheers

+1. With or without the hosts file modification, it's the same right now.

Unwatchable in Christchurch this afternoon.

I don't understand how there isn't more of an outcry about this really, maybe TelstraClear's market share just isn't big enough.

Where would you see the outcry? Most people don't post on forums, they just call the helpdesk (if they can figure out who their ISP is). Then after waiting an hour on hold, the helpdesk will tell them (or will have told them at some point in the last 5 months - at least now they're admitting it) that it's a problem with their computer or YouTube and the person will give up.
