cokemaster: Nice to see yet another prepaid only special/promotion.
Particularly with the best mate thing and also the $10 for 2000 text messages (which blows the $9.95 for 1000 text messages on Choose out of the water).
Why not throw them 1GB of mobile data for $20 too?

Anyone would have through that VFNZ On Account customers were subsidizing these poor (read: cheap) prepaid customers....

cranz: As of 11am today you can change via 777 opt 2 opt 2. and also by txting 756

Also left out was all offpeak calls to 021's (7pm-7am mon-fri, all weekend) are capped at $2 for 2hours.

Credit will expire after 3months, access is 12 months. Old plans stay the same
Add ons "roll over" 1 month from date added - TXT reminder 2 days before, if no credit on phone the add on expires and will need to be re-purchased once credit is on.
89c/min to nz numbers and top 15 destinations anytime. This is charged PER MINUTE now, not per second. Old plans still stay on per second rate after first minute.

Yes this has been launched for prepay only at the moment, new you choose add ons are on the way and bestmate will come to on account in the new year.
On account will also see about 4 services in the new year that prepay wont have access to.

How often can the BestMate number be changed?

I also assume the Supa Prepay option applies to 029 PrePay SIM's? It will now be cheaper for me to use $10 SMS for my SMS Gateway than the 3rd party provider I used.

It would be good now if Vodafone at least offers all existing on account customers some form of deal to carry then through to the billing system changeover.

Just emailed VF to express my utter disgust with this plan as it absolutely kills basically all the value of being On Account.

VF On Account customer - if you feel the same way please do the same.

I love Vodafone, great phones, great network, but c'mon guys - Get your priorities right!

No offense, while I do agree that people who are on account might be a bit under-minded because of the $6 unlimited Call/Text and $10 for 2000 Text on VF, the cost of making a phone call is extremely High! it is charged at 0.89 per min and charged by the min! Not like Motormouth when it is charged by the SECOND after the first min.

I still think that the offer on SuperPrepay is not good enough for me coz it is expensive to Call.

By the way.... does anyone know if there is a dual sim card that is compatable in NZ? I have googled and found 1 in the UK where people can integrate 2 Sims /2 lines into one phone. I am thinking.... I can sign up for Super Prepay, get the $10 Text and 1 Best mate option, and keep my existing prepay number, so that i can still ring other VF and Landline for 0.49 per min.
what do you think?

Choose 20 plan is $20 a month and includes 20 minutes of anytime calling = $1 per minute. That is guaranteed revenue for VF of $20 a month for customers on this plan. Supa Prepay only guarantees them $20 every 3 months and has a lower per minute rate!

Take your point, but you can have an offpeak add on Your Time 200™ for 6c calling... I wish it is that Cheap for prepay/supa prepay =) I know that would cost $12 Extra per month

There are 2 ways to change your Best Mate number.

Cancel the add-on, wait till the month expires and then re-add the Best Mate add-on with a new number. This will charge you usual $6/month again.
If you change your Best Mate halfway through the month it will charge you $3 (and you would have already paid $6 for the month)

200c / 120 mins = 1.66 centsper min. Pretty damn good value for prepay AND MORE THAN 3x CHEAPER THAN A CHOOSE PLAN

It's not a matter of being compatible with NZ, it's being comaptible with the phone.

There used to be heaps in the old days for 5110's, 3110's etc but as phones got smaller these all disappeared.

bradstewart: And $20 min topup every 3months is a bit harsh. It was bad enough being forced to top up once a year.
C'mon folks, think!!!

Three months of $6 BestMate deal = $18. Then the odd phone call t $0.89/minute. Not hard at all to topp $20 every thee months to keep the plan.

You missed my point... I was wondering if the old plans were staying, but if not then the requirement of $20 every 3 months was harsh since there are so many people especially older ones who use their prepay for receving calls only.

But since they seem to be keeping the old ones not a problem there.

Overall the plans look good. Though I do pity their on account customers

Yeah, we have to wait a bit longer but I'm sure VF will have some goodies up their sleeve for us  Tongue out

Wait until 1st January and then we'll be able to pass judgement.

bradstewart: Does this replace the current prepay plans? And $20 min topup every 3months is a bit harsh. It was bad enough being forced to top up once a year.

If its $6 a month for the calling, then its $18 over 3 months, they are only asking for an extra $2, which is a tiny ask for good value... add to that "normal" texting levels to others, and the min top up becomes irrelevant.

Since when does $20 last for any decent amount of time at all?

You can't be serious in believing that this constitutes any restriction of the typical prepay user's rights...

You maybe correct that a typical user would not be concerned by this restriction but it would suck if it was you who lost $100 because you didnt put $20 in every 3 months. You might have gone overseas. Could be hospitalised. You could be extremely busy and simply forgot. You could have $100 (dont vodafone send selected customers promo's to double up) that you put on thinking that should see you through for 6 months.

Any more?
