Supa Prepay

$20 min topup every 90 days

$6 month unlimited voice/video call/sms to 1 selected number with BestMate addon.
$10 month gives you 2000 Voda -> Voda SMS.
Voice calls charged at 89c min anytime.

Vodafone don't have this on their site yet but full details are on their IVR.

Sounds great, I will be into this for sure.

What are the restrictions on the "1 selected number"?
Landlines?
Or VF mobile only?
No doubt it cannot be a Telecom mobile but that doesn't affect me.

Does this replace the current prepay plans? And $20 min topup every 3months is a bit harsh. It was bad enough being forced to top up once a year.

Nice to see yet another prepaid only special/promotion.
Particularly with the best mate thing and also the $10 for 2000 text messages (which blows the $9.95 for 1000 text messages on Choose out of the water).
Why not throw them 1GB of mobile data for $20 too?

Anyone would have through that VFNZ On Account customers were subsidizing these poor (read: cheap) prepaid customers....

Since when does $20 last for any decent amount of time at all?

You can't be serious in believing that this constitutes any restriction of the typical prepay user's rights...

I guess that depends on if Vodafone will still offer their existing prepaid plans with the 12month topup, as their are customers who wont use that in a year, let alone 3months. Mainly the older generation, but they still exist.

Now it will be interesting to see how Telecom respond, and if so how....

Yes, good point.  I would certainly be very disappointed if they didn't retain those older plans alongside the new ones because 2 of my kids would be in the $20 - $30 per year category (for now, that is...)

action55: when can you sign up for bestmate?

I just tried to change my wife's mobile to Supa Prepay/Best Mate but the IVR system is overloaded.  It said that service wasn't currently available, please try later.  I also tried to talk to an operator...  "Call centre is overloaded, please call back later".

Not too surprising I guess...
It looks like the uptake for this will be huge!

Cheers Vodafone  Smile

P.S. Thanks Johnr for confirming that the older Prepay plans will still be available.  I think Vodafone have done an excellent job in covering all the bases here.

C'mon folks, think!!!

Three months of $6 BestMate deal = $18. Then the odd phone call t $0.89/minute. Not hard at all to topp $20 every thee months to keep the plan.

As of 11am today you can change via 777 opt 2 opt 2. and also by txting 756

Also left out was all offpeak calls to 021's (7pm-7am mon-fri, all weekend) are capped at $2 for 2hours.

Credit will expire after 3months, access is 12 months. Old plans stay the same
Add ons "roll over" 1 month from date added - TXT reminder 2 days before, if no credit on phone the add on expires and will need to be re-purchased once credit is on.
89c/min to nz numbers and top 15 destinations anytime. This is charged PER MINUTE now, not per second. Old plans still stay on per second rate after first minute.

Yes this has been launched for prepay only at the moment, new you choose add ons are on the way and bestmate will come to on account in the new year.
On account will also see about 4 services in the new year that prepay wont have access to.
