langers1972: I am just hoping they sort us TBox customers out with MySky as they surely won't continue with the two, anyone know anything on that?

TelstraClear's IP based playout system is superior in many ways to what Sky have. It represents one of the significant assets that they have, particularly as we enter a UFB world.

I would be worried if I was Sky.

Superior in many ways except basic functionality which is awful at the best of times, if its end user experience matched then I'd agree but right now it's noteven close.

I wonder if this will result in TC peering openly again.

I said nothing about the t-box, merely the playout system. Vodafone (and TelstraClear right now) have the ability to kick Sky into touch when it comes to IPTV.

Will indeed be interesting times then. Sky needs a good kick in the complacency gland.

Surely it all comes down to broadcast rights. Sky hold all the trunk cards on those don't they?

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Good news.
But now there is the twilight zone for all the customers of one who want (or do not want) some of the perceived benefits of being a customer of the other.

Suspect there will be a lot of press and postings for VF to hurry-up and make their changes so 'we' know where 'we' stand.
Whilst they wait for all the regulatory approvals, and then we wait for the system integrations.

Things may appear to get worse before we see the benefits of better.

Especially for the TC staff who will be wondering how many of them are down the road..

Their market share will mean they won't have too if they don't want to I'm afraid.

Due to consolidation of call centres, TCL call centre staff will have to share the same commuter train as Vodafone call centre staff:

I guess this will put an end to the long running speculation around Vodafone exiting the New Zealand market.

Exactly what I think.

And could you imagine the complaints if Vodafone got broadcast rights to say the Bledesloe cup?  Although they could resell them to Sky with a delay..  Win on both counts (good PR for customers + more dosh).

It still has to get commerce commission approval though, so it may not be a done deal yet.

Got to also think of the staff at both companies as once approved they have to merge/restructure 2 big companies.
End result however once all together will be interesting, but as I see it the new Vodafone will be much bigger than Telecom having their own network as well as mobile network
