Pretty good - reading from the UFB discussions around here I'd say we get a much better service.

I haven't found TelstraClear to be as terrible as others on this forum have. Sure they mess a few things up but no more so than other ISPs.

I have enjoyed the 100/10 service I have been using this past month but will be leaving it behind for other, unrelated, reasons.

I can't say I have noticed any issues with YouTube but the extent of my YouTube use is likely the popular cached videos anyway.

sbiddle: The first thing to do is ensure you have the correct DNS servers configured in your router. 203.97.87.43 and 203.97.87.44

Are you sure you there isn't a typo there, think it should be 203.97.78.43 & 44 ?

But with any luck Vodafone will be able to teach them a thing or two about customer service

Ironic isn't it? Back in the day when Clear first arrived on the scene offering the first generally available competition for Telecom, their big thing was great customer service. Pity that their founding principle got lost somewhere along the way...

Pity the govt never forced unbundling of HFC.

Would be so much better if we could chose our cable ISP.

DarthKermit: A bit off topic, but how does cable internet compare with UFB fibre (in terms of speed)? I know that cable is only available in the three big cities.

Which three big cities? Wellington, Christchurch and...?

Everything's working fine for me on TC cable, bar some weird routing to Sydney/Cloudflare.

Ha ha, speaking of Willy Wonker, check out the first three minutes of the latest daily show, pure genius.
So I've just got off the phone from TC having a rant about my general bad speeds on the 100 x 10 plan. After him agreeing that my speeds through the TC speedtest test were terrible, he soon realised that he couldn't even speak to my cisco modem. After booking a tech for Monday and telling me there are known issues with youtube (who now make up a small portion of my income), he asked me if there was anything else he could help me with. I asked how far through my 2 year contract for two mobiles I was and he said it was over. I then asked why my Nokia 800 couldn't send or receive MMS. He sounded surprised at this and went on to check if this was the case, which it was.
I think after 10+ years with this company the time has come to part ways.

Youtube is working perfectly for me on TC cable in Wellington. Low def, high def, 1080p, it all comes in without any pauses at all. I hit up to 16Mbps on my 15Mbps connection.

Funny you should say that. Youtube was fine for me right before i switched to the 100mb plan, although it was slow like this roughly a year ago before that.

Had a technician around today, he didn't speak much english but my partner thought he said all fixed. Hopefully you can see the speed test above. Goodbye Telstra.
