I called Vodafone and asked to change my 100GB plan (currently $115/mo) to the 150GB plan (new price $95.95). Changed in minutes.

You might have a different experience if you're currently in a contract, in which case you have to wait for it to end before changing. This is normal for any contract.

Were you previously on the Telstra 100GB warpspeed plan?

Did this put you under a new 12 month contract or no contract? I have a 20GB TelstraClear cable plan for $55.95. Vodafone offer 60GB for the same price. I'm not under contract now so am hoping if I change I still won't be. Perhaps I will be automatically put on this new 60GB plan in the next month or so if I do nothing?

I wouldn't count on it. I was paying for the Saturn Extra package 3 months after it no longer existed and even then it took a visit to the store and two support calls to sort that out. The package deals seem to be only with Phoneline packaged so if you are like me and don't pay for a phone line it does cost a bit more but a lot of people have saved a lot of money going and doing a health check if you aren't on a contract.

I just called the Help Desk. They advised me that changing from the old TelstraClear $55.95 LightSpeed 20GB plan to the Vodafone $55.95 LightSpeed 60GB plan would involve me signing up to a 12 months contract.

I am not on a contract at present. Am a little disappointed so will probably stay with my 20GB plan for now.

Tell them that you are long term customer and other people on Geekzone are getting the new price with no term (if they are already out of contract). I think long term customer and Geekzone are key words here to make them give it to you.

Why is it that one person was asked to sign a contract and the other one wasn't? I don't understand this. I don't get why you would need to be on a contract after finishing your first one... it's not like there are any installation charges the second time round?

I agree that there are mixed messages coming from the Help Desk. Perhaps one of the Vodafone people here can advise who is right?

I just called too & asked the same question

" I'm sorry we cannot offer you this service at this time at this address"
I repeated , I already have the service , I just want to change plans.
Apparently a 'sales ' person will call back within 2 days

I have got the new price and no term and an email from the person confirming the change and that there is no term or breakage fees. Did have to say long term customer and that people on Geekzone said they weren't getting terms.

As to who right in regards to VF policy who knows. But I assume for retention purposes they have some flexibility depending on how nice you are. I assume they also realise that people who know about geekzone make not only their own Telecommunications decisions but also advise their friends and family so worthwhile keeping us happy as we can influence a lot of flow on business.

Wasn't on contract.

And just to clarify that email was about the new package just so have record can pull out if needed in future.

Slightly OT but how about bundled VOIP and broadband supported packages over cable. Am well aware they sell naked broadband on cable.

I called the Help Desk again pleading that I was a long term customer from the days of Saturn and also an early Vodafone mobile account customer. After first saying the 12 month contract applied to existing cable customers who switched, after talking to their manager they returned with good news - I have been switched to the 60 GB plan with no contract.

Needless to say I am now a happy customer with thanks going to Vodafone for being so understanding!
