And there SHOULD be a sticker or at least something that warns users they are not allowed to share/gift/sell or whatever else their routers, because they compromise their account safety... And by having a look in the routers, the ones I have access to are preconfigured with the account name and password.

But is that printed on each modem so the user knows about these potential security issues I would say the vast majority of users would never know about this issue and to visit that site until it is too late and someone else is using their connection.
I want to go to Trademe and conduct some research to see how many users selling modems know to wipe the settings and to contact their ISP to deregister their modem. I guess this number will be close to zero.
This could also be an interesting case when it comes to the 3 strikes legislation.
Shame there are legal issues around stealing someone's service.
