+1 really disappointed that Vodafone are late to market with their UFB offerings with no sign of any movement in the foreseeable future.

Going to be moving to another provider next week.

Which pretty much sums up the whole situation.

It's far easier to deploy a LTE network from a single vendor than what it is to deploy a FTTH network and work with multiple vendors.

I'd pick most people have absolutely no idea what is actually required for an ISP to launch a new product offering such as this.

You mean we don't just come up with some plans give them funky new names and create a new ad campaign?

Surely if we do the above the product will release smoothly and any niggly little problems that might leave customers without service will be forgiven!

For every person who leaves VF because we don't have fibre service for sale yet I wonder how many more we keep by not releasing an unfinished product.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

It could be argued that Vodafone knew about UFB a long time ago. How come a lot of other providers are able to launch functioning UFB products but Vodafone are still testing/looking in to it?

Why not just go with another provider, there's plenty of them offering UFB. If Vodafone doesnt seem interested why not change? Providing you dont have a contract still. Vodafones loss not yours. Im with PlaNet/KCI, slightly more expensive than ISP's like Orcon but I can say everything is rock solid, no speed issues, no throttling, no probs with torrents. very good cust support. I always get great speed, no slow downs like people report on Orcon. This is even over a 1km wifi link. To be honest id rather pay a bit more and have a decent connection with good localised support.

I certainly hope they relese something in the not too distant future. Enable are in our street / area laying the cables now so I would expect the service to be active sometime in the next month or so. It would be a right Pain I T A to change email addresses all over the place because Vodafone don't want to catch up with the other ISPs offerings

Getting a bit OT but it could be a good opportunity to look towards moving away from an ISP email address.

When you can have your own domain name and email for as little as $10 or so per year depending on the type of domain you want and never be tied to an ISP again it seems crazy to stay with what you have.

Yes, yes, yes! Take Steve's advice and move to a non-ISP email address. Even if you don't have a domain the offerings from hotmail (MS) and Gmail generally offer much better functionality than the ISP mail services. Even if you are going to stick with Vodafone I would initiate a change in email address now so you can move at anytime in the future.
