OK have raised a ticket. Issue happened again this morning when checking voice mail.

Will see what comes back.

I dont think it is heat related as this was first thing in the morning when everything is nice and cool.

Hi Nety,

Thanks for this and logging the fault directly it actually helps if you log the fault with our support line with all the info.
Now what we have found is that the issue apears to be your device not recieving the Audio from the system,

The info from your device also confirms this, I have removed the Numbers and IPs from the following info, but what this is saying is that the PAP2T did not recieve any Audio Packets as seen by the setting PR=0 , hence no Audio heard by you, this also is confirmed by the EN and DE info which tells us the Codec in use, your Transmit was G729 but Rx says G711u which it Defaults to if no packets received , so my thoughts on this are tha the RTP packets (audio are not getting past your router / firewall)

Timestamp     : 06:51:56.500 2007-03-27Direction     : RXRemote IP/Port: x.x.x.x/8062Local IP/Port : x.x.x.x/8060Transport     : UDP----------------------------------------BYE sip:831xxxx@as.wxcnz.net:8060;maddr=x.x.x.x;transport=UDP SIP/2.0Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 192.168.1.101:8062;branch=z9hG4bK-9c3b01d4;rport=8062From: 04831xxxx ;tag=e817ecad1dcb1b40o0To: ;tag=96141c3a-1f7c-4608163d-1a8d539f-3deab919Call-ID: 5e75d6f1-258a95cc@192.168.1.101CSeq: 103 BYEMax-Forwards: 70User-Agent: Linksys/PAP2T-5.1.3(LS)P-RTP-Stat: PS=484,OS=14520,PR=0,OR=0,PL=0,JI=0,LA=0,DU=15,EN=G729a,DE=G711uContent-Length: 0

When the call is setup it negotiates both the Port and Codec in this case G729 this all appears correct the port info is also done and all looks good

These are the ranges used for this call 35680 and 35448, for some reason your PAP2T did not get the audio even though it was sent

m=audio 35680 RTP/AVP 18 101m=audio 35448 RTP/AVP 18 0 2 4 8 96 97 98 100 101

We will continue to look at the issue , but may be worth perhaps looking at your router / firewall , I will have our support Guys follow up as well with you, but this is our first thought

Just to confirm the 35680 and 35448 traffic is UDP traffic?

I can't see any reason for it to block those ports. Can you check the call directly after it. I did hear voice then so would be interesting to know if it used different ports the second time around.

Yes generally calls will use different ports

I did notice last night when looking through the settings on the WRT54G that when you enable QoS by default it puts all ports on low priority which is a bit dumb. I have now set them all to disabled for QoS and just set the PAP2T to highest by device mac address (it can be set by port or device or application).

However can't see that being the issue as the no sound issue has not been when the connection has been under load.

OK did it to me again. Couple of things I took note of this time though. First it did have the dial tone and also the number being dialed sounds.
Second when the call connected all the lan link lights on the router were flashing. When I called back again only the internet and the one link light for the PAP2T port were flashing (as I would expect). To me it would seem that the router is somehow stuffing up the routing of the voice data. The problem is that the logging that the router does is very limited and does not really tell me anything.

If you want to look at the log the call was at about 6.15pm and once again was too the mail box. Talking to my wife she has not had any times where there has been no sound other then checking the voice mail.

The only time I had it was directly after checking the voice mail so it does seem to somehow be tied in with voice mail if that is possible.

Is there a solution for this issue. Everytime I go to use the phone, there is dial tone but after dialing there is no sound. It seems the call is actually going through. I do a quick reboot of the VFX device and I can make calls again with sound.

First call with no sound:

After reboot:

I'm not receiving any packets in first call... I have the appropriate ports forwarded through firewall:
ACCEPT udp -- anywhere 192.168.1.50 udp dpts:35384:37384

As I mentioned earlier I have a wrtp54g and I am convinced the issue is at least partially heat in the router. because when ever I keep it sitting on a mesh in tray with air all around it is fine. but if someone moves it and site it on the carpet or a flat hard surface I start having problems. It would also appear that every time I have the problem  both my line 1 VFX and line2 internetcalls.com suffer the same problem at the same time

Are you using the standard linksys firmware or a custom one like dd-wrt? It seems there are known issues with certian firmware and VOIP. I have been reading a few forums and people have resolved issues by updating to the latest firmware.

EDIT:  Sorry I misread your model number, I thought you were using a WRT-54G router.  But I did find this: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic6744.html

Firmware was Standard linksys 3.17 before WXC locked all but the second line down. I beleive is is still 3.17 with WXC/VFX settings on the first line
