Seems to have just gone down again in Kapiti - and yes - everything has been restarted.

The wide spread fault has been resolved.
If this is an individual fault you will need to contact the technical support team, 0508 888 800 (Residential services), 0508 555 500 (Business services)

Thanks.

I see this happening all the time on Geekzone, does it honestly bode well with their "most reliable network" statement on Supernet?

Well, TBH, you'll probably find its all "Telstra" customers having the fault ;)

Only if you're implying that the Chorus network never has any faults? :P

I'm on InHome cable in Chch, and if outages happen "all the time" they must coincide with times I'm out - or home but not using the Internet. I wouldn't have even known about the problem today but for this thread. It has been a very long time since I have actually seen an outage.

Speeds are fairly consistent too. I'm only on the 15 Mbps download speed which is fine for my needs, and I rarely see a test result get much below that. Got 15.26 Mbps just now.

I think the only time I have ever seen a speed test result less than half of 15 Mbps was that TelstraClear "no metering, download as much as you want" weekend many moons ago.

It's pretty unusual to have an all out HFC network outage such as this. Most of the times a few nodes may lose connectivity due to power, which is no different of a mobile service where cell sites come up and down all the time, without affecting the entire network.

It's another story with their proxy farm. That's something that should really be looked into for more reliability.
