They replied on twitter saying No, generally you have to wait out the contract.
Which is a contrast to telecom who let you swap within contract.

We now have what known as Overage. $1 per GB so no more Double your Data.

Cheaper to stick with my old plan then, I do some pretty heavy downloading on the last few days of the month..

I don't like this overage idea at all , what was wrong with double your data ? Please bring it back Vodafone.

really?  Overage is much better than 'double data' IMO.

with double data,  if you went even 1MB over your cap you get hit with a $xx charge ($about $30 from memory?).   obviously with overage the charge is graduated, so a small amount over your cap you only get a buck or two - much less bill shock.

Double Your Data has an option to spend that $30-$20-$15 Etc..\
Overage will email your at 80% and 100% and 10GB over. People that dont keep their account updated and use their emails will not be aware of the overage, That may cause the bill shock because they just keep using unaware. IMO i liked DYD more for the convenience and i like Overage for practicality. Wish there were the option like data angel.

So, VF still has nothing that can compete with the Telecom 500GB ADSL plan combined with landline......  my sons used 10GB yesterday -and they are supposed to be studying for NCEA exams these holidays!

So even 250GB is no good to us. We could be paying $50-$200 extra per month in overage charges. So more than double what we currently pay with TC.

TimA: Hi,

We now have what known as Overage. $1 per GB so no more Double your Data.
The Legacy Mega-Choice-Mint packs will keep that but the new ones dont have that option.
FYI: Naked discounts are $30.
Thanks.

This isn't 2007 anymore, it costs NOTHING when a customer goes over their data cap, charging $1/gb extra is outrageous. There is no true naked discount, only if you move your mobile plan to VF, which will likely cost you more, otherwise it costs you the same to have a phone line with VF. I still haven't seen a legitimate justification for such a price hike in cable plans other than to "align them with the UFB plans" AKA cream more profit from people.

I just checked and over 60% of people will charge $1 per GB on the average plan. We are in New Zealand dont forget!

This is partially correct, While it is of fairly minimal cost for a single user to go over their data cap it is however a significant issue if a large number of customers do it, They have to be able to balance their network load and international bandwidth correctly and the difference in capacity can lead to hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions, to increase this capacity, Therefore overage or capping systems are in place as a deterrent to keep them within the expected limits.

As for naked broadband discounts the reasoning for this being that naked services are not all that significantly cheaper than services with a phone and profit margins are marginal at best on most connections, Yes it would probably possible for them to lower the average price for naked broadband however the $30 discount from On Account Discounts is likely greater than what that discount would be and is a smart marketing choice as it allows for a discount only when it is deemed acceptably affordable and does sufficient work to increase business.

As for cable prices, Yes, Its odd, Why I'm not too sure, However it is likely to keep it in-line with other pricing to match the now fairly uniform pricing accross the board, And also, For the majority of customers on smaller plans, Its very similar to before.
