rocco: Hey, I'm only telling people what I was told over the phone. The Vodafone tech told me I was 5km from the cabinet when I rang yesterday. If this is incorrect then maybe Vodafone shouldn't be giving their customers false information.

Perhaps like a technician from a the network provider, who is engaged by the ISP?

Just a quick update. After the 6th call to Vodafone it appears that the tech should have installed a new jack or at least modified the existing one. Since absolutely nothing was done during installation, that is the reason for the speed being around the same as ADSL. They have arranged for a tech to come back to my house and do the job properly.
The tech that came to my house APPARENTLY did a full installation when in fact all he did was ring me beforehand, tell me he was not installing a master splitter, told me to plug in my modem, arrived at my house and stood in my living room for approx. 2 minutes making a phone call to activate my VDSL. The 6th person I spoke to at Vodafone said that what the tech did is extremely strange and definitely not what he was supposed to do.
I feel slightly better now and will update after the second tech has been with my hopefully faster speed and better experience.

rocco: Hmm, so this is weird. The Vodafone tech just rang me back and told me that the Chorus tech must have modified my phone jack without me knowing and they will not be sending anyone now. Without me knowing? I was standing with the guy the entire time he was here. HE DID NOTHING TO MY JACK POINTS! I'm almost on the verge of changing service providers now. One step forward and then one hundred steps back with Vodafone.
