mrgsm021: not sure about carryover data but certainly including calls & texts to aussie on all on account plans not just exclusive to red/black plans, therefore making other on account plans more value for money.

why not just go on a business basics open term plan? They are newer and have mins to aussie And unlimited texting

Huh?

That business $40 a month comes with 750MB of data, 20 cent per voicemail and only 350 min? How is that comparable to the $69 red plan.

Woops, I forgot, retention added more data for me, I get 1.75GB on that plan for the next 24 months, also I pay $35.35, it's got a $5.75 discount that's ongoing.

Oh well, your question is irrelevant to you for the next 24 months. If they do bring in roll over minutes your plan (especially as you have got extras on it) will be grandfathered and not change.

Won't happen because
-They are the market leader, they don't need to unless Telecom does.
-Skinny and 2degrees offering it isn't a big enough threat
-I imagine your average consumer might underestimate the value of carry over until they experience it
-It could cannibalise a small portion of users on their higher paying plans who have a high plan because of sporadic use
-It would potentially require expensive changes to the billing and metering software depending on how that's built and how many legacy systems you have to touch

If you want carry over change to a carrier that offers it. If you don't like the carriers that do, then deal with it.

IMO I think there are quite a bit more people on telecom and 2degrees's and skinnys $19 and $16 plans than vodafones.

Someone I know works at WHS and she says when selling prepaid sims, the big thing people jump at is 2degrees and skinnys rollover minutes and/or data.

Its great to build them up, some months you talk lots and other times you don't but basically now I have quite alot of minutes that will have me covered for a while :D

I went from Telecom open plan to prepay as I could get more data at the cost of minutes, I have now gone to 2D freedom plan because of rollover mind and data plus a monthly saving of $20

I've noticed after even a brief chat, people suddenly realise the value of carry over, so im not surprised they are interested when a salesperson engages them about it. But yes the $19 combo wars are fairly competitive, though unsure of what the customer numbers might be. Prepay definitely isnt where the big money is though.

The concern comes on the higher plans, vodafone iirc has a higher average revenue per customer than the rest, and i would attribute one of the reasons being the big push on their high end red plans. If the lower plans could build up data and minutes, I imagine their revenue per customer might drop as people switch from unlimited calling plans to building up minutes on a lower plan. That's my guess anyway.

Regardless for those that have it, it is indeed awesome. I have 390 minutes built up so far as i use barely any, and a spare 350mb of data which is slowly growing by the month. I now like it when my plan renews as i get to watch it build up.

For me I'd sooner have more data; I'd love the $69 Red Essentials to include 2GB of data - now that would be nice.
