I suspect you're right. I would not consider that an acceptable solution given I've done that twice without success.

Samsung verified fault and replaced motherboard and screen. Plus downgraded to 4.3! Very happy and somewhat vindicated.

Excellent, now at least you know you can upgrade to (the much better) kitkat as the issues you were having were phone related and not software related.

What's the benefit to 4.4.2? Aside from the crashing (which it won't again, I understand) I noticed very little other reason to perform the upgrade. My Application performance was identical, my camera quality was the same, the only difference I noticed was the notification bar grew transparent.

I did not look, can you confirm if the addition snapdragon 800 power saving features have been ported across? This would interest me greatly - grey scale, simple phone/txt interface only.

A lot of people have experienced the phone being slow to respond, music stuttering when playing, GPS locking up requiring a reboot in 4.3
These issues have all, apparently (my Note II is still on 4.3, damnit) been fixed in the 4.4.2 update.

I have certainly noticed less TW lag, everything seems smoother.
I also had a noticeable improvement in battery life. Maybe because the battery stats were wiped on a clean install?

BTW, still not a single FC, lock-up or reboot.

The battery stats things is a Myth - I think they just focused on performance improvements for speed and battery life in Kitkat.

Thank you everyone, sounds like an upgrade to 4.4.2 is on the cards.
I don't like the fact (I torrent a lot) I can't get the torrent app to write to the SDcard, and I despise the fact WakeLockDetector doesn't work as well, hence my hesitation.

May I ask one last question, does it honestly matter if I upgrade VS format and reinstall?

Theoretically, shouldn't make a difference, especially if you have a relatively clean install of 4.3 to start with.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but for information sake, a stability pack was released over the weekend, which may be to address the issues with 4.4.2.
So if anyone is waiting to upgrade after reading thread this may be comforting to know. (Obviously I can't confirm, but after installation I've noticed a few differences).
