Sorry, its a little off topic but...

before going into a hysterical fit

Paradox, most call centers record calls and store them for xx amount of time.
If you recieved such poor service I would highly recommend calling them back up with the approx time and date of the call, and preferably the person who made the call (or check to see if any records of your call were made by said person) and ask them to have a listen to it and re-evaulate their staff.

That sort of stuff is poor service from ANY call center and I would be giving stern warnings to any staff member that treated a customer of the business (therefore also a customer of mine) that way.

Obviously this is going by only what you have said and there are always two sides, but if it is totally un-warranted, I would be complaining.

Just to reiterate (because there seems to be some confusion)

This deal works in a similar way to the 'buy two pairs of shoes and get the third pair free' offers   We're saying buy two services and we'll give you the monthly broadband component free. Customers buy home phone connection from Vodafone ($41 a month) and a tolls package that offers an unlimited number of national calls ($20 a month) and we'll give them broadband for free (normally $30 a month). Broadband 1 offers maximum download speeds and 1GB of traffic.

1GB is our entry level plan but it's enough to download around 6,000 photos, more than 300 songs or 200,000 text-based email - that's certainly enough for most customers who want to try out broadband but have been put off by the price.

For users who want more, we also offer our higher level plans with the price of Broadband1 taken off as discount -  so a 5GB plan will cost customers only $10 a month.

The majority of existing ihug customers can take advantage of this deal without paying a transfer fee because they're not on a contract.  Any customers that are on a contract because they've taken advantage of a special deal with us, can simply pay a transfer fee which will be between $99 and $199 (whatever the early disconnection fee is for their contract) - so they'll still be saving money.

The 12 month contract simply means they stick around to get their 12 months of free broadband - so yes it's a commitment, a commitment to get their free broadband!

Just had a call from Vodafone, they wanted me to sign up to this offer.

I told them I wasn't happy with Vodafone over the last year because of billing mix ups and the fact they kept informing me that OA BestMate would be launched and kept putting it off time and time again.

The representative said this is fixed line, not mobile. I very nicely explained to her that I knew about this offer but don't want to take it up because i'm happy with my current ISP (xnet) and at the moment, don't want to give any more business to Vodafone because of the way they have delt with OA customers.

This representative must have been on commission because she wasn't giving up, she kept saying "free broadband", however it wasn't free because I use more then 1GB a month.

I eventually told her again I was happy with my current provider and said goodbye, basically hanging up on her.
