Your stats jumping around as much as they are is a pretty good indication of a fault too.

As painful as it might be, follow the process with the CSRs is your best bet.

Yeah in those stats the noise margin is jumping all over the place... not good... I had the same symptoms with a corroded joint at a jack point.

I called Vodafone back a little while ago and they have booked a callout for Chorus so it will be fixed.  jonb, you are right.  My line maintenance fee does cover internal wiring too so that was a nice surprise.  Thanks for your help everyone.

johnr: Do it once do it correctly with a master filter

Depending on where you are, I can install a master filter. I cover Waikato, BoP & Auckland areas.
Flick me a message or email if interested.

Your pricing is reasonable so I would take you up on that coffeebaron but I'm in Hawkes Bay.

And that's exactly what the problem was.  Chorus arrived this morning and sorted it out.  Good call yitz.

So what is your downstream attenuation now?

No but the line crackling got fixed.  I asked the guy from Chorus about a master filter and he didnt think it would make much difference to the speed.  Our exchange is still on adsl1 and he said there are no plans at all to upgrade it.  He said if it did, it wouldnt be that noticeable.

pure lazyness.

a splitter will always help, it may not be noticeable but at the very least it cuts out all your house wiring of being a cause of any future issues.
