nakedmolerat: Vodafone support is local. If you can cope without phone line, email only support, then go for bigpipe (subsidiary of Spark). Spark is also an option, we don't see much complain about their services on Geekzone.

Apart from my recent thread complaining about Spark increasing prices in for customers under a fixed term contract. They are the only ISP to do so, VF and others are honouring their contract pricing. Not that you will find anything on Spark's promotional information which mentions their ability to raise your fixed term contract pricing on their whim, you have to dig well into the small print of their terms of services to find that gem. Phew, rant over, feel better, back to lunch (-:

Vodafone did this too...

No, the new pricing will not affect customers on a current contract. If someone signed up at a specific pricepoint, we'll honour it until their contract ends.

ETA: Lol, I like your new GZ tag, ^MM

Not enough coffee today or I can blame the heat for my poor lack of judgment ;) Good news it is not existing customer in-contract.

rubbish, your promotional material quite clearly says that the is an increase for *everyone* including those on a contract.....but those on a contract will receive a discount equivalent for the term of their contract

As I mentioned in the other thread, Spark is okay, and (anecdotally) I hear Snap are quite good too.

Snap is really good. 24 hour support now and even calling them in the middle of the night you usually get people that know their stuff.

..and a NZ call centre. I only had to deal with them a couple of times when I was a customer and found their support staff to be pretty good.

Speaking of the good old days...for some reason the YahooXtra Bubble fiasco popped (pardon the pun) into my head tonight, and I found this article on the Herald about who has the best broadband...in 2007 :)

Lon doesn't like hate speak, you'll find gregmcc's life bar is now very limited.

I have been with world x change for a long time now, they 'appear' to be a very small responsive company with very reasonable rates.
You ring them, they answer. They've rung me occasionally to DROP the price. never ever had an issue.

I would have to say though that any ISP needs a lot of customers to make a profit and when you have a lot of customers you need lots of staff to answer calls. either that or you need systems so people can help themselves, which ultimately many people don't like.
One thing I learned is that the cheaper you make a service the more 'service reliant' (I'm being polite) your customers will be , so if you sell low price internet to the masses you'll have more people ring you every 5 minutes.
