its a continuation of this thread by the looks of it

Yeah it kinda is (as I stated in my first post). The problem with older threads like that one is that it often goes so far off topic that no-one is going to notice if someone posts something new in it.

its also good to keep info on the same topic in one place as it makes a stronger case, and its not spread over 10 different threads

Part of the reason I moved from TC Cable to Snap was poor routing. If they can't consistently route data sensibly then move to an ISP who can.

Looks like that was a little short lived.
It looks like I was taken to Sydney then bounced around the world. The classic statement is "W-T-*"

it is not going via Germany if the ping is only 200ish

your are reading way to much into the ip locations, they are generally wrong.

on a spark VDSL connection i get 169ms ping which is within about 30ms of what you see.

FYI, i found different locations for a few of those servers

199.229.229.18 - Willowbrook USA
134.159.61.98 - Washington USA

Yes I think they change, from my limited understanding is that IP addresses are only leased for a short period of time and often change.

199.229.229.18 comes from giglinx-gw.ip4.gtt.net which is a German netrange.

I'm just posting what whois said when I queried the IP addreses.

I've known US businesses to lease servers to Australians that bounce through the US to Aussie but they get low pings and we get high ones here, don't understand that myself completely.

Can you explain why I'm wrong?
I'd like to learn if I'm assuming something incorrectly, cheers.
