I will answer this...you should expect 0 outages as that is what we aim for at all times, we are never happy with a single outage and anyone in Operations will tell you this Wink,  As to the current issue the guys are working very hard to get it back online along with a permanenet fix, not here yet though ,

Aside from the current issue I believe it has occured possibly 2 times that I'm aware of.

Were aware of the issue and impact and do apolagise for the inconvience rest assured we are working hard to remedy it.

You beat me too it.

This is not a common problem at all,  the usage meter is usually very reliable as it revolves around the way our plans work - you only pay for what you use and you can add extra data at any time.

Thanks Phil ... what I was referring to was how many times can I expect to have an outage of my usage meter rather than internet outage: good of you to answer both anyway!

I've been on xnet for around 18 months now (?), and this is the first time the usage monitor has played up.

I have also been on ihug (wired country) for the past 4 years, and the usage monitor breaks every few months ;).

so xnet are well overdue for a usage monitor fault Wink

My usage meter has increased, but only 1%.  Does that mean that the meter is now working again and that we got our data of the last few days for free?

The records used for traffic accounting on the usage meter are still catching up, you should see the meter climb over the next couple of days as the records are processed Niel we expect it to be fully fully caught by Thursday...we are very sorry for the delay but the catchup process for accounting is very slow

As of yesterday my meter's back in order, although not entirely sure if it's fully updated yet or not (the day before that the meter went up 1% before taking a 10% leap yesterday): for future reference, there was 11 days usage meter down time.

Erk went up another 17% ... should have been paying more attention while usage meter was down ... Will post again once it really has settled down!

My usage meter now say i've used 103% of my cap and am "rate limited" but i just got a speed test of
3883 down, 99 up (over wifi)

Looks like i'm getting free bandwidth. Cool!!

Well it might help Xnet to tighten up it's loose bandwidth  to know about it and they make some savings (anyone know how much loose bandwidth or whatever it's called costs Xnet?), we consumers might get some see some improved services.  A bit of honesty helps the world go round!

I like getting something for nothing, but I don't feel comfortable if the source of the free stuff is not aware of it. Feels like stealing. Know what I mean?

Also, the "cost to date" is currently higher than my cap. Am I going to be charged for the extra?

Suggest you contact Xnet directly if you haven't already.  Doubt if you'd have to fork out the extra if it's their mistake: I certainly wouldn't expect them to pay if I accidentally dragged the datacap graph bar too far to the viewer's right!

Just wondering if you still appear to be un-capped,  I've had a look at your radius records and they appear to be in order (64k profile applied).

The usage meter is almost fully up to date, we don't anticipate any further problems and apologise for the inconvenience this month.
