RBI is not "new". The service has been available for a number of years now using the 3G network.

What has happened is that in recent months is that Vodafone have enabled 4G LTE services on 700, 1800 (and in some areas) 2600MHz bands off RBI sites and if you have a newer RBI modem that supports dual carrier LTE you'll be able to take advantage of better speeds and performance over LTE vs the older 3G hardware.

As I explained above Vodafone are not the only option as an ISP and if you don't like them there are a number of other ISPs offering services over the network.

The first time a master filter was added. The second, we had two jacks that were enabled to plug router/modem into, one of them was conflicting with the other so it was disable, which was strange as for 5 years it hadn't been an issue but it did sort out the problem .I had a winter and summer position for computer so as I hard wire connect to modem it move with me. Now Im stuck to winter spot

If there is a master filter, then there should be only one outlet that works with the modem. If there is more, it hasn't been installed correctly, and will almost certainly be degrading the connection.

A speed test done testing my Ultimate Broadband 4G RBI Wireless connection

Typical speeds I've seen on a couple of customer tests/installs are 20-50Mbps, depending on distance from cell/capacity etc.

NB: RBI is a regulated 5Mbps service, so keep in mind that there is no guarantee of speed over an above this.

I have a cousin who is currently on wireless RBI who would love to get 4G, but I don't think the cellsite he is connected to (Mt Sewell) is due for a 4G upgrade :(

Thanks coffeebaron is phone extra to the price quoted for 4g wireless on ultimate broadbands website?
The main reason I haven't gone wireless before with rbi was the data limits which are generally about 30gbs a month. At the moment we use over 70gbs , teenagers help to max out your data.

Vodafone have an 80gb and phone for $105. Others offer similar plans (some with off peak data). I'm really happy with Vodafone RBI - I'm on 4G now and get awesome speed. This is a speedtest I did just now (9pm):

Yeah, there's a new 30GB and 80GB plan and 4G availability. It was launched exclusively at Fieldays. The ones that include calling are very good value becuase it includes calls to NZ landlines too.

No, you can just plug your existing phones into the modem.

Yea, I've been waiting on a couple of long overdue sites to get their upgrade here in the Waikato. I'm surprised Vodafone haven't upped their efforts here now that Spark have this whole area blitz with 4G. A few of my customers are likely to jump ship to Spark once their rural broadband offer is launched.

Not sure if you can answer this, but the cellsite I'm looking at is Mt Sewell.
