Dratsab: Upgrade done - very simple. Update
Streaming to my Lounge Chromecast (Lightbox: Vikings) and
Streaming to my LAN connected bedroom TV (Netflix: Life on Mars (UK)) and
Streaming to a tablet in another bedroom (Netflix: random cartoon) and
Wife surfing on her smartphone

No problems.

Did you experience wifi trouble with the old firmware though?

rokki: Well after the upgrade the Admin log in doesn't work. Vodafone couldn't log in to it either hmmmmm. Lucky I have a spare which was retired due to wifi issues but at least the Ethernet works. So still have Netflix.
reading doesn't appear to be a strong point.... Please also note upgrading the firmware will change your current admin password to "@" and then the last 8 digits of your HG659 serial number, e.g. "@12345678

Well i can read and did follow the instructions but for whatever reason it wouldn't work so i thought i would try again. After putting the updated one back in circulation and after 3 attempts it let me in. So £&%" knows what was going on ,but in and sorted.

Can we please have a release log, on the fixes, improvements , changes, new functions? rather than people upgrading on a whim that it MIGHT fix something :)

Has anyone got VOIP going on VDSL?

Keen to try this firmware if it works.

Cheers, Matt

From memory the VF firmware actively disables VOIP so I doubt they would have changed this approach.

Well I can now access the VoiP options, but havent tried throwing in my 2talk info there yet to try it.

Still havent tested the wifi yet, will do that this weekend.

Upgrade done, no issues to report as yet. I just need to wait and see if my previous issues return. (Mostly devices being dropped out and the router no longer seeing them)

Well it seems that my wifi issues have disappeared. It also passes the grc.com shields up test. So some improvements. However can't seems to get 4K Netflix out of the USA at present but that may be related to the Windows 10 upgrade Netflix 4K NZ all good.

Well, I tried this new firmware.

The WiFi is slightly stronger. The VoIP over VDSL still didn't work. In the DSL stats, you can now see line attenuation.

But this killed my SPA2102 on 2talk. No audio at all.

I had to flash the Telecom firmware on my modem to fix this problem. :(
