TV1 and TV2 seem to be dropping out a lot tonight on digital - I assume this is a network issue?

Yeah I noticed the same as well.  We swapped over to the freeview sat signal after the boss complained about my crappy box... glad to hear others were having the problem... I told her it wasn't my fault since the signal was fine <phew>

I see what you mean.
I don't watch much public tv, but my flatmate has decidd to attempt to watch TV 2 currently.
Spluttering sound and frequent picture loss.

Not their best work.

5:30 get home and notice on 720x576, PQ improvement / direct feed of TVNZ from avalon.
8:30 wife threatens to kill me if TV doesn't improve for ER, switch to DM off Satellite not Cable for TV2.
9:00 head to bed to watch rest of ER, swap back to Cable, back to old encoder as 704x576 for TV1&2.

Come on TCL, if the feed from TVNZ isn't of a good quality then why do you persist in swapping everyone in wgtn over to the new feed. I would expect the BER on your links to be somewhere around 20-50 as those sorts of artifact losses I see on a really rainy day off the sat when my dish was out... How hard is it to get a microwave link from Petone to Avalon working.. you could always run fibre, it's not like you're a telco

Maybe they're trying to run an IP feed over a cable modem direct. That'll explain the thing dropping out all the time with all the micro outages on the network! :-)

munchkin: Not to be rude but you guys only have one woman threatening to kill you, I live in a flat with 3 of them :(

Hey I have two daughters (3 & 20 months), and a third daughte on the way... Now all I need is my shotgun & rocking chair!

sbiddle: Maybe they're trying to run an IP feed over a cable modem direct. That'll explain the thing dropping out all the time with all the micro outages on the network! :-)

Ahh THAT must be it... however the artifacts don't last as long as the cable modem outages... so it must be some other unreliable connection or components in the Cable TV... Glad my phone and internet isn't on the same system... hey, wait a minute, it is... bugger :P

EDIT: And now they are playing Disney Channel (Hanna Montanna) on TV2 as well, plus the image is out of sync as well..

EDIT #2: Back to TV2 ~8:30pm... I recorded the switch over and will post a TS file "This channel is unavailable, please stand by" before is switched back to the normal TV2...
