peejayw: "You will require a UMTS 900mhz device"

What about a suitable data card, will you have one?

Me??

No, sorry I meant Voda, not you personally Embarassed

Following on from Paul's comments, do you know if the data cards will be multi-frequency ie GSM 900, UTMS 900/2100?

Thanks

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

corksta: So does that mean my Novatel Merlin XU870 data card will be able to take advantage of the new speeds or will I have to buy a new one?!

Speed!! Do you live in 3G coverage now?

The XU870 does not support UMTS900.

Best to read thread again then after if not clear question away!

Thanks John

Takapuna, so yes.

I didn't think it did just wanted to clarify that was all. So when it says on their web site it is upgradeable to 7.2Mbps via a software update, that means I'm still out of the loop because Vodafone is using a frequency that this card doesn't support?

Cool finally soon a 900MHz 3G card; been hanging out to upgrade my Vodem.

How wide spread will the 900 3G coverage be? Close to current 2G 900? Or is that all under wraps till launch.

Will there be any 900 3G in the outskirts of the big cities? As soon as I hit the bush in the Westie Auckland, 3G gets sucked away by the greenie's :(

Paul Brislen: We'll have cards and USB modems and phones at launch

Are we able to know when "launch" is yet Paul? And there will definately be multiple devices (in addition to 6121) available at that time?

Thanks

:-)

Devices, yes, lots. But not for Juha who gets nothing. Nothing!

Cheers

Hmmm, interesting. My whole phoneline/broadband package is up for renewal in a few weeks and I am looking closley at going to an all-Vodafone package so that 3g coverage map and suitable data cards are going to be very important in the decision-making.
