What does Chorus's map say you can get, just out of interest? 5MB/s?

The commerce commission need to get their head out of their donkey and see that they have made the minimum specs for broadband useless.
Jack it up to something realistic, make it clear that conklins are not broadband and make them fix it or stop selling it.
Why cant they just fill the conklin cabinets up with all the other conklins they have pulled out and stick one in per 6 customers to get the speeds up to ones which will at least do SD youtube?

Chorus' goal is to make money. The above is a bad plan to make money. You essentially answered this question with the sentence above.
Still I'd personally argue against the above as a solution and start pushing fibre coverage further out. Although I'd like the BS with ROW's fixed first. Flat I'm currently in recently got consent denied because of neighbor's absentee landlord.
Oh and my heartfelt condolences to OP who is on a conklin. They sucked to be on 5 years ago now they're an embarrassment to this country.

I normally argue it when it is clearly a Chorus fault or issue.
They have tried to charge me a number of times (once 3 times for the same fault)
I have always had the charge reversed in the end.
But these have all been Chorus faults.
I guess it could be worth atry calling them, as the fault isnt with my installation.
Well after the obligatory 25 - 35 minutes wait each time I called, I have now got them to waive the call out fee. I told them that the VF tech support guy told me after he did a line test that the speed was too low, and they would arrange a technician to come out, even though he didnt physically visit just called and told me that I am on a old cabinet and will never get a better speed as there are no plans to update....
Anyway am now waiting for VF to install RBI base station.... just dont know whow I will live with a Data Cap again after a few years of unlimited data :(.. but it will be good to be able to surg when I want again!

I would recommend looking a a reseller for RBI.
http://www.ultimatebroadband.co.nz/ would be my recommendation, their data caps are far more favourable for you than vodafone will offer directly im sure.

IIRC the Conklins can put out a bit more than the 2Mbit they have, as they have the ability to support up to 4 2Mbit links on the master unit. Usually, Conklins are deployed in an area along side PCM fed systems, so they'll allocate 2 PCM channels (each 2Mbit) for the Conklin, and the rest for the voice. Basically, there's just nothing there to pull the data from. If Conklins are in place, nothing else is.
Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.
