Thanks for your reply Mr Knowitall; but you are talking about the zerohand off feature which is supported on the non 802.11 AC APs but still in development for the AC models. If I had meant zero handoff I would have said zero handoff or ZH.

And I'll be sure to tweak some settings once it's been out of the box for more than a week and once the houses around me are built. The point is that this soolves the issue of ISP routers having realtively poo wifi performance

If you dont have anything positive to say then maybe you shouldn't say it at all.

UniFi kit DOES NOT support roaming. 802.11r and 802.11k roaming is currently in alpha. Until this is in place the roaming capabilities of the UniFi hardware are NO different to any other brand of 802.11 access point - roaming decisions are made by the client hardware and are not hardware assisted.

As you mention zero handoff was previously supported in gen 1 hardware. Zero handoff is not true roaming and will cause more problems that it solves unless you're fully aware of exactly how it works. The fact it was such a bad solution is one of the main reasons it was pulled, and zero handoff will never appear on the gen 2 AC hardware.

I already told you; I never mentioned zero handoff.  You did.  Stop making a tit of yourself.

I did not mention zero handoff - you did.

You're the one who said UniFi supports roaming which is incorrect as it doesn't. Only the alpha firmware supports 802.11k and 802.11r - and even with that it's very buggy and a long way from production.

You're still jumping to conclusions Mr knowitall. I said you can seemlessly roam between two APs if you would ever need two in the home. I wasnt going to go in to detail how to configure it in a post. Even if a ZH option was available in the AC models, I would probably choose the other method that everyone uses with multiple installations of these. I'm sure you will be smart enough to figure out what settings these are and to quit making an ass of yourself with anymore replies.

ZH was a very poor SCA based implementation and is detrimental in 99% of installs - there are only very few cases where it's beneficial.

There is no way to make seamless roaming work on UniFi if you put two in your house quite simply because it doesn't support 802.11k and 802.11r which is the only way (apart from a much better SCA based roaming solution) to deliver a seamless roaming experience. Whatever hacks you may want to look at with min RSSI are not seamless.

Maybe Freitasm could close this? My question was wonderfully helped and answered before things degenerated (AND IT WAS EVEN MARKED AS ANSWERED). Nothing since has been helpful to the original request so time to lock me thinks.
