MikeHales:

Ultra Fast *cable* broadband just to be 100% clear.

Well, that's just gotta be designed to confuse people.  I just read it as Ultra Fast Broadband, as in UFB, as in Fiber.

When did they stop offering it over Fibre? We had it in Hamilton and worked great unless someone stuffed up Multicast

It was still listed as an option on the web site only last week so must be very recent.

If you go into the Red Home Package builder and select fibre it still gives you the option for Vodafone TV

Is that with an address entered, it appears if you bypass or don't enter an address the combinations are invalid.

Just to piggy back on this, if (as I am) you are on the Vodafone Cable network, can you get Fiber, or do Vodafone consider the cable to be what Spark would call UFB??

In Vodafone SalesSpeak, "Ultra Fast Broadband" = "Ultra Fast Cable" OR "Ultra Fast Fibre".

You are not allowed to have "Ultra Fast Fibre" if you are in an "Ultra Fast Cable" area.

EDIT  ... unless you leave Vodafone and get fibre from another ISP/RSP.

Perhaps this is just a temporary measure during the merger. By all accounts the Vodafone TV wasn't the best STB out there. Hopefully the merged company is just in the process of looking at a new IPTV STB/PVR solution.... something like this perhaps?

Does any one know if this is being deprecated? Haven't heard anything but had my UFB provision done by Chorus yesterday - with a Vodafone TV box.

From memory there was a plan limit of 100Mbps when using VF TV over fibre...

If you select 200Mbps you cant get VF TV over fibre. Happy to be proven wrong..

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/tv/ quotes "Only works with Cable" in the Vodafone TV section on the right.
